  • Meguiars 2.0 Polishing Pads

I'm just curious, since they are now able to be washed by machine, how does everyone clean them?

With detergant or without? etc etc.
Any help would be appreciated. I used to just use some soap and water and let them soak and then dry them.

    edit
I tried searching all over the place, it seems it would be obvious but I am just lost.

    Re: Meguiars 2.0 Polishing Pads

    I really Like them.
Since I have not used other pads, or the older pads I do not know how they compare.
But I can say, I either use dish soap for my Wax finishing pad, and/or polishing pad.
Or for the Polishing I may use undiluted APC.
I place the pad in warm water, in the bathroom sink.
I let it sit for a little bit, then take my fingers and push on the pad, product side up.
Then I rinse the pad with running tap water.
Wring Out and Dry between a 4 way folded microfiber, in between the fold(2 on top and 2 on bottom) Normally I put a book or something heavier on them to help force out the water.
For me it takes about 2 or 3 days to completely dry, where I am comfortable putting them in a sealed bag in a dark place. (Great for Mold and Mildew to Grow!!)

      Re: Meguiars 2.0 Polishing Pads

I soak mine in the kitchen sink with hot water and dawn for about 15 minutes. I use my hands wash the product out of the pads. I then rinse clean in warm water. To dry them I spin on speed 6 with my G110. After sitting overnight on a wire rack I put them back in their bag.

Keep it simple, don't over-complicate something very simple.

Wash using a quality detergent on the warm to hot temperature setting.
Dry in the dryer on the normal setting.

If you want, separate pads used with water soluble products from pads used with non-water soluble products. In other words, wash your pads you use with your compounds, paint cleaners and cleaner/polishes separate from your pads you apply waxes with.

            Re: Meguiars 2.0 Polishing Pads

When we were first releasing the Soft Buff 2.0 pads Mike Pennington handed me one and said "this is how they look after buffing a car and then washing" and I thought he was handing me a brand new pad! He then told me that this particular pad had been machine washed and dried 20 times. 20 times!!!

Like Mike Phillips said, just throw them in the washer and dryer - treat them the same way you treat your microfiber towels. Liquid laundry detergent, no fabric softer or dryer sheets. Clean up is a snap.
