I am 35 now and I have used ammonia and water to clean windows since I was 16 mixed 10 to 1.I was wondering is this harmful to the glass? I keep hearing that and I would love some response on this.I have never used Windex or any other "window cleaner" and maybe I should think twice I dunno.

Re: window question
I do not think it is harmful to glass.
I think it works very well!!
But I LOVE Meguiars Detailer Line Glass Cleaner.
Plus it is very economical, at about 62 cents per bottle(Include sprayer, bottle, cleaner, and shipping from ADS)Joel

Re: window question
My only concern would be on tinted windows. I would go with the Detailers line glass cleaner concentrate. Very good product. I use to use invisible glass. I switched to Megs and I have seen a big improvement.
It is also very economical also.quality creates its own demand

Re: window question
The Windex website states that Windex may be used on vehicle windows but that care should be used when using on tinted windows. Ammonia can cause the tinting to disintegrate. Perhaps this is why most (all?) automobile windows products do not contain ammonia. Why take a chance?
I use Stoner's Invisible Glass and am happy with the product. I have also used Eagle One and was happy with that product, too. I do want to put my hands on a bottle of Sprayway, though. I tried to polish my wife's windshield with a polishing compound last fall, and some of it dried up in the tiny pinholes or pits. I understand that Sprayway, because it is alcohol-based, might work to dissolve the dried-up polish.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.
