  • Black overspray on Summit White?

Well there was an incedent with a black can of paint and my truck being to close.

I bought a Clay bar kit (which is nocer now than the last time, has a case for the clay!) and I am hoping it will remove this. Anyone have success removing black spray paint over spray with a clay bar? It is ever so light, almost came off with a couple of car washes, but I want to remove the winter contaminants anyway. Am I hoping against the inevitable?

Yes the claybar will get it off, although you may need more agressive clay, which can scratch the clear coat. You can get those scratches out easily though.

      That's the right product.

Try to clay gently at first, but add some pressure if you need to. Even a lot if needed, but use plenty of lube, and understand that the more pressure, the more chance of some swirls to fix.

I have used clay in the past, but not for over spray, luckily it is barely noticable and I dont anticipate much effort. Only reason I notice it is because I have a really keen eye for detail, and I can feel that its not like glass. The last bar I had was great and I appreciate the quick responses. I will post back with a few pics of the job after I get done in the morning. 6 AM comes fast so I better get some sleep so I can get to it and fix anothers booboo. Thanks again.

I have a orbital and pads from Meguiars, so removal shouldnt be that bad. Thanks!

I actually recently had the same problem.
I used my Clay Bars from Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit, and a WHOLE bottle of Last Touch Spray Lube, and still needed more.
It took care of the paint no problem.
Make sure you have a lot of towels, and Lube.
Also you may need to wipe the clay with a towel occasionally because there maybe a lot of little paint beads, that stay paint beads.

            Good Luck!!

Well I started on the truck at 830AM yesterday and got home with sore arms around 7PM, and the truck looks great! Thanks for the help, this site has made this the best looking truck I have owned. Cant figure out how to post pics, but trust me, the truck shines!
