  • First Experience with Clay

After reading all the threads and watching numerous videos I decided to clay my 2006 Accord Coupe. I wash/dry my car, carefully read all the instructions and watch the YouTube clay video for a second time, then I get to work.

So I'm working away and wondering why this is so hard, the clay is very sticky and I can't get it moving on the paint. Then I remember the spray that came with the Kit that's sitting in my trunk. DUMB!

Any way, I meticulously clayed the car, wiping as I go. Very easy, no sweat job, took about 45 minutes. The paint came out absolutely smooth as glass (my paint was already in excellent shape but there was a difference after the clay).

Then I put on a coat of Cleaner Wax that came with the kit. Cleaner Wax is a very nice product because it can remove tiny little specs of road grime/tar easily, stuff you can't even see unless you really get down and inspect very closely. It also gives a nice shine and my car looks great.

I might throw on a coat of NXT next time I wash the car but I think it would be hard to improve on the way it looks now. Anybody thinking about doing their car should just start from the begining and do the clay. It is too simple and highly recommended.

      that's a great post
I have been teaching a lot of people lately about the clay bars. My brother in law and friends, everybody is starting to get "car crazy" now .
The benefits are amazing. I still remember when I used a clay bar for the first time, I could not stop touching the paint, so smooth.

Tomorrow I am actually having another friend coming to my garage. He is also going to use the clay bar for the first time. I might do some polishing with my g110 as well.

Thanks. I really didn't want to fool with the clay but after reading so much expert advice here I knew it was the right place to start. After I felt the paint (and saw what was picked up by the clay) I knew I would have been wasting my time to skip this step.

The Clay Kit was $16 at Walmart and I would think you could do a car twice with it. Cheap, simple and you'll know you'll have the best job you can do.

And by the way, "GO GATORS"!!

Once you use clay, you get hooked on it.

I always like this time of year, it is fun to hear people trying new products... and the clay always brings the shocked responses.

It was certainly the same my first time.

I couldn't believe how smooth my paint was after I clayed my car the first time.

boy no kidding.I would never wash and just dry a car if it hadn't been clayed in a while. It is essential to a great looking car.You can feel it after you clay it's just like glass.I even started claying the windshield.
