  • What do you use to apply tire dressing?

OK. So I'm helping by buddy detail his 4Runner. I decided to do his tires. He uses Black Magic Tire wet platinum. I love the stuff too; great long lasting shine!

I used a 1 1/2 inch paint brush to apply it to the tires. I use the paint brush because it saves on using too much product as I found the foam applicators soak up much of the product, makes you use excessive amounts of the gel, and is overall messy. So, I decided to use a paint brush.

Well, least to say, even though they were SUV tires, it took me 45 minutes to do his tires. So I ask, what do you use other than a foam applicator provided by the manufacturer?

    Thanks!

I only use Gold Class Endurance High Gloss Tire Gel applied by a Foam Paint Brush:

A regular paint brush does it for me. It gets all the small crevices and lines.

I use and like this one here from ADS. They also carry a Jumbo version. I did a search and found this one at AutoSport.

I've been waiting for someone to ask this question as I run tires with raised white lettering and using the supplied foam applicator never gets 100% coverage. I'll have to give the paint brush a whirl.
I guess the next question is, what do you put the product in - a bowl or plate?

I just dribble the product across the foam, or kind of spray it with a half pull.

Currently, I use a boston round bottle with a nipple on it to dispense onto the paint brush. Like I said earlier, I like the paint brush idea, but thought I was spending too much time to do the tires. I also bought a pint size empty paint can at Home Depot, thinking it would be better and less of a mess, but the Boston Round is working out well, better than the manufacturers bottle it came in.

Neither, I pour it on the applicator.
