This sounds a bit crazy probably, but it works for me. I usually do the flooding method with the hoze, jump in my car, drive down the highway about a mile, turn around, come home and pull it in the garage. I break out 135 and lightly mist and wipe.

edit: Mike, it is very well waxed. I forgot to add that.
I'm a newb but I clayed a brand new car with 300klm on it nothing to it no damage what so ever just a "baby bum"smooth finish.

Could be just my small car (2009 Escape)but most of the water runs off I use the ultimate detailer for the odd spot and I originally used crystal 1,2,3, after claying.
I am drying with a real chamois which I notice no one else is -like I said Im a newb but my car looks great.

Agree 100%. Don't be afraid of claying, it is a very important part of caring for your car. Just make sure you use a mild clay and do a very thorough job of it on your first round. Check on You Tube. Meguiars has many very good videos showing you how to clay properly.

I use the exact same 2 towels as Mike Phillips. AWESOME results for me.

I would also suggest getting some Last Touch to spray on any potential washing water spots. I find Last Touch is fantastic at removing fresh water spots. Then you don't have to re-wash like you mentioned.

I can't recommend UQW strongly enough. Use it after a wash, and your car will look amazing (especially with some NXT on it). That's all there is to it. A quick detailer or spray wax after a wash eliminates any drying sins.

When I dry, I do the flood technique and use one of my Supreme Shine Microfiber Towels to finish it off. I wring it out if it gets too wet and works good for me so far.....

No fabric softeners on the towels. Also get different drying towels.

I had this problem on my 05 Sebring. It was recommended that I try new towels. Went with the absorber and the larger Marine water magnet. Problem solved.

Doesn't sound like you are doing it correctly then.

Re: Drying is killing me. Nothing works.

I'm using a forced air method and it drys the car but I still have to deal with water spots. The spots are a lot harder to remove it you rinse with hard water. The last time I connected the hose to my garage sink and used soft water to wash and rinse. I still had water spots but they came off a lot easier.

I just received a couple of Meguiar's Soft Touch Microfiber Drying Chamois and will see if they work better than Meg's WW Water Magnets.

Some guys use the CR Spotless filter system so they don't have to deal with water spots even if they wash out in the sun.

Re: Drying is killing me. Nothing works.

I should have mentioned, I have the CRSpotless system, I use it in conjuction with me electric pressure washer, then just flood the car. Depending on the how far along the cartridges are in the system and how hard your water is will determine how well it does. If I measure anything below 10 on my TDS meter, it's going to dry without spotting "mostly", I would say it's going to be 98 to 99% spotless, but this is on a black car and I am very particular. This is why I take a quick spin and give it wipe down with Last Touch or 135. I did a review on this system a couple of years ago on here...

I think my water directly out of the tap runs 80-90 on the TDS meter, and I think they recommend a filter change on the units approaching 30. When I bought mine, they didnt' have TDS meter on the unit, just a light that goes out when you need to change it, so I bought a portable one.

I may go pick up some of the Microfiber Drying Chamois after hearing all of the good things about them.

I just clayed my car for the first time. Trust me clay will not hurt your paint, it is similiar to taking a piece of dough and running it over your car. It does work, picks up stuff you didn't even know was there.

Electric leaf blower works well. A Viking drying towel, or danase drying towel. Use a quick detailer like last touch as you dry.

I have to settle for the poor man's CRSpotless system - the Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash system. I bought this unit before becoming "educated" in the two bucket wash system. But I still use the Mr. Clean nozzle for the final rinse. The de-ionizing cartridge does a decent job of softening the water and preventing water spotting.
