  • Bonnet for 7" pad

Looks like ADS shows bonnet for 6.5" pad.
I'm buying the new washable 7" pad.

Can that bonnet still be used on a larger pad without issue?

By the way, bonnets should be washable, right?

You can use that bonnet on a 7" soft buff 2.0 pad, but it will be a tight fit. It also kind of deformed the cutting pad and I was worried it might start separating the Velcro from foam, so I went back to the 6.5" soft buff pad.

    Yes you can wash these.

Just to note, if you're removing wax by machine you want to use a foam cutting pad because it's a stiffer foam and works better for wax removal, the softer polishing and finish pads just don't work as well.

If you dedicated a W-7006 Foam Cutting Pad as your wax removal foam pad, then since it never gets dirty it won't need to be washed.

It does work well or removing wax with a DA Polisher as long as you're laying down a thin coat of wax. Use the polisher on the 5.0 Speed Setting.

Thanks Mike, so use the "older" style W7006?
I read the newer cutting pad is model W7007 which I couldn't find in ADS, and based on some readings it looks like the stiffness of the newer pad makes it better for removing wax applications.

          I also don't see a 7" bonnet for the newer buff 2.o 7" pads.....guess they don't have it...

oh. I think the W7006 refers to the older 6.5" pad whereas the W7007 is the newer 7" pad......

I have one 6.5" W7006 cutting pad that is dedicated for use with a microfiber bonnet to remove wax. The W7207 is the newer washable 7" pad.

ADS has the W7006 for $10.95

The part number for the new washable pads look like these,

                  W7207 Cutting
                  W8207 Polishing
                  W9207 Finishing

Sometimes they will be typed like this with a hyphen or dash between the letter and the numbers...

                  W-7207
                  W-8207
                  W-9207

If you want to remove wax by machine, get the small foam cutting pad and a matching bonnet and dedicated the pad to nothing but removing wax.
