Re: Help me get my black paint nice again!
How long are you setting aside?
If you find it going over a few days, you might want to get the wax on to protect the panels you already got in good shape?
Dont have to, but just a thought.

Be sure to do most of your inspection after the cleaners, before the #7 and Nxt Wax. They can possibly hide swirls.
Once the whole car is up to par..... do entire car, one panel panel at a time with #7 and wax.... then enjoy my mirror finish

Re: Help me get my black paint nice again!
Alright, so I finally bought everything I needed
I made a small test spot and applied the following products using minimal effort and working through it fairly quickly...
Deep Crystal Car Wash
Smooth Surface Clay Kit
Ultimate Compound
SwirlX
Mirror Glaze Show Car #7
NXT Tech Wax - Liquid
The results are astonishing considering how little work and time I put into it!
The following pics really dont do it any justice.... nor do they allow you to feel how smooth it really is. It's really difficult to capture the difference on camera...

Re: Help me get my black paint nice again!
pep-boys has a 10 off 30 coupon going around (PM me if you need a copy)
so that combined with the buy 2 get 1 free after rebate through meguiars is one EPIC deal... after doing the math... I can get a clay kit and 2 nxt waxes for a bit over $20

Car Washing Magnet @ ADS
ADS has a ton of stuff for you to shop!
Also, Kevin Brown of this forum is an authorized dealer with the know how to use products for your specific application so you don't buy stuff you may not need.
Then of course of Meguiar's has their own shopping and I think if you call them, they ship for free, but don't quote me on that, it may have been a special for the month or something.....
Also, check out the data base on dealer locator to seek out the consumer and professional products in your area or area of travel, you'd be surprised who carries what in your area and you support your local guy

Re: Help me get my black paint nice again!
I do exactly what Murr does, it works perfectly. Water Magnets are kinda expensive up front at $9 each, but ADS offers three for $22, which isn't too bad.

Re: Help me get my black paint nice again!
The general method, (and this wont work as well on un-waxed paint, but still....)
1. Rinse off your soap.
2. Remove the nozzle, and possibly adjust the spiggot, so you get a nice gentle flow of water. This will flow most of the water off of the car (moreso when waxed), leaving less to dry.
3. I use all Water Magnets. Takes me 2-3 to dry a car, maybe 4 if it is really not waxed, or a real damp night, etc. But I do not wring them out, I just use one till it seems wet, then move on to the next. But I will still use decent terry cloth towels for door jambs, engine, underbody, etc.. no need to ruin good Water Magnets.
Some people like to use the Meguairs Chamois, others use leaf blowers, there is an Air Wand, all kinds of things.
Have you seen Mike and Richards car washing video?
