    First post woooohoooo

Now for the dilema. I have been detailing for some time and would like some opinions on making a change. This would be on my weekend car, a 3rd generation RX-7. The car has original paint and is in pretty much showroom condition.

I currently have been using (in order) #2, #7, #26 with great results. I decided to give your RX Car Care a shot and it told me I should be using "medallion Premium Panit Protection" as my wax insted of the #26?!?!?!?

Now as of recently with the NXT becomming available here in Canada i am also currious about that. From what i have read this stuff is the cats meow! So why did the RX Car Care not prescribe that? Or better yet what wax should i be using for optimum results?

This is on a black car that is very curvatious and MUST show off its lines!! I am prob the most anal person ever for detailing and must use the best of what is out there.

    thanx and cheers

First of all, to Meguiar's Online!

Well, give NXT a shot and I'll be your jaw will just drop.. Hahaha! Not only does it give superior shine but it also gives you the best and strongest protection.. Try applying 2 coats of NXT (12-24 hours apart) and since you already have #26, maybe you could top the NXT off with that. Good luck and post some pics!

      Hi Shawn,

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

The reason the Car Care Rx didn't prescribe NXT is because the Car Care Rx is being rebuilt and part of the rebuilding process is to include new products such as the NXT Tech Wax.

Each Meguiar's wax tends to offer a little something different in the way of appearance or protection characteristics, a lot of times you just won't be able to tell which product is right for you or your car until you try it yourself and inspect the results in a variety of light conditions.

Quick replys, thats great! Ok well im one step ahead, i went out and bought the NXT already a few days ago, tommorow i will tackle it.

Do you think i should give her a dawn wash down and start over? The car is pretty much polished right now but Im going to a car show next weekend and would like to give her another day at the spa to make sure its top notch for it. Or should i just go straight to the NXT? Basically what order should i take this at?

          Exotic RX-7,

Good choice in purchasing the NXT Tech Wax! I'm really sure you won't regret it! As for my advice, I would say use Meguiar's car wash soap (NXT preferably) as Meguiar's doesn't recommend using dawn to wash your car. It will strip the car's protection and leave the surface dry.. As for the combo to use, it really depends.. Do you have a lot of fine scratches or swirl marks in the paint? When did you last detail your car? If it still has swirls, then maybe you can just use #2 then #7, then 2 coats of NXT (12-24 hours apart) then top it off with #26.. If your paint is flawless or where you want it to be, then I think it would be a good idea to start with #7 then go ahead the same.

Good luck and hope this helps!

Actually what i ment was to use Dawn to srtip the car of its components to "start over" and basically re-do it with #2, #7, and then with the NXT instead of #26. Or because the car is pretty much polished as it sits just go straight into it with the NXT.

The car was last detailed last weekend (Sept 25th), but want to do it again. I know it may seem a bit over done but its my realx time and enjoy doing it.

I think I may just go with the #7, NXT, and my other "topper" i use.......

              Exotic RX-7,

Please, whatever you do, stay away from using Dawn. Dawn is for dishes, Meguiar's is for cars. Using Dawn can dry out your paint and be harmful. Use a Meguiar's car wash soap, I like NXT Car Wash.

If you want to remove the old wax you have a couple of options. First of all, if you are using #2, that will remove any old wax. Just a reminder, #2 is to be used with a rotary only. You could alos remove any old wax by claying or by using a paint cleaner by hand like MPPC.

You will love NXT Tech Wax. Just apply two thin coats approximately 12 to 24 hours apart. You can also top the NXT if you prefer to, I like to top it with MPPP.

Good luck! Make sure to take some before and after pictures so all of us can see how you did!

                  Hi Exotic RX-7,

                  Two things,

One - Paint cleaners like the #2 Fine Cut Cleaner, or ScratchX will remove anything previously applied to the finish, and do a much better job of preparing the finish for polishing and waxing than washing with a detergent soap. Detergent soaps are to harsh on not only your car's paint, but the other components, such as rubber, vinyl, plastic etc.

Two - If your car's finish is in excellent condition right now, I would apply two thin coats of NXT Tech Wax without doing any other prep work except for either washing first, or wiping down with a quick detailer to insure the finish is clean, (dirt and dust free), before you start.

We would all like to see a pictures when you're though...

Well I'm actually in the middle of working at The day at the auto spa as we speek...what i decided to do was not wash the car at all. It was pretty much spotless as it sat. Just gave it a swipe with #34 and she was ready to go.

Started off with a clay baring the car down, then #9 cleaner/polish, then #7 pure polish and am now in the middle of appling the NXT wax. Will do the second coat of NXT tomorrow....
