    Re: Wheels

First off What are they made of and do you have any pictures?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

it depends how corroded they are and what the wheel is made out of. Do you have aluminum wheels by any chance?

            Re: Wheels

If they are stock rims they are most likely powder coated rather than being raw aluminum alloy. Our advice will be completely dependent upon what your rims are made of or coated with. Make sure you know exactly what they are so we can give you proper advice

              Re: Wheels

Most rims would be painted/clear coated, so they could be treated like paint. Powder coat would be much rarer.

But best to know for sure, even calling the dealer if you cant get a pic.

                Re: Wheels

Use Hot Rim's All Wheel Cleaner or Aluminum Wheel Cleaner

Clay them with Smooth Surface Clay Kit

                Coat of Wax

                Maintain with Quik Wheel Detailer.

Those are general steps, but the Wheel Cleaner may change depending on the type of metal.
If they are Polished Aluminum then you can polish them.

                Some pics would be great

                Are these the wheels?

I remember someone a while back had wheels with that kind of white stuff on it... Cant remeber what it was or if they solved it.

I have never seen anything like that white stuff before, I'm sure you can remove it.

The Center Cover is most likely Polished Aluminum. You can at least make that look good with Mag & Aluminum Polish

                          Re: Wheels

Yeah, you can remove it (with some sandpaper)...

Most factory wheels have a coating so that the wheels do not corrode. If the coating has failed, then it will look like that.

There's really nothing you can do to fix it.

That appears to be clear coat failure and there is nothing that can be done except to have them refinished. Sorry. Sometimes if one uses the wrong cleaning product, the chemical can leech under the clear coat, causing it to fail. Sadly, I have seen this happen a few times... You could try a cleaning/polish/wax product like ColorX and see if it helps, but I am pretty sure the CC has failed.

And no, if those are stock wheels, they are chromed plastic which means using the product you suggested could possibly haze them, permanently. Instead, using a mild cleaner type wax or sealant would be preferred. I tend to use M20 Polymer Sealant

Thanks for the help guys, I'm sure all the chemicals that they put on the roads around here in the winter didn't help mattters either. flhman
