  • Product Quantities

Okay, so I'm about to take the plunge and purchase a DA kit from ADS along with a bunch of other stuff so that I can keep my new truck looking new.

My question is this: ADS sells 105 & 205 in 32 oz. and 1 gal sizes; what kind of mileage can I expect out of a 32 oz. bottle? I've got a Honda Civic that I know will need both 105 and 205, but thinking my new truck will only require 205. Typically how many polishing sessions do you get out of a 32 oz. bottle?

On the other hand, it might be easier for me to order the 1 gal. size since I'm in Canada, but I don't want to order a gallon if it'll take me years to use it.

The Sample Size should be just fine for a few cars. I have used 205 on 3 vechicles and I still ahve more left.
As for needing 105 it depends on how bad the swirls are.

If you are just doing your own cars, and then washing/maintaining properly, you really should only need to use the strong products once. Maybe twice if something bad, accident, etc happens to the car, or a spot in the car, or the dealer washes your car for you.

But if it is just you, then you might want more of the mild product, but shouldnt need drastic amounts of #105. Even UC should be available for you soon enough if you need a little bit of a strong product some time.

You are shipping to someone you know in the US?

I have a quart size of 84 and it has lasted six years so far. The only product that I felt it was worth to buy in a gallon size was #83. But since I am a hobbyist detailer I use less product than a pro.

Figure 3-4oz per car on average. A Gallon will last you YEARS if you are just maintaining your 2 vehicles. If you plan on doing others as well then it might make sense.

It would all depend on how your sickness is. Seen people do a full 5 step every 2-3 months, or once a year, or twice a year etc.

Depends on how easily you can get products too!

I like the 32oz products as I do our 3 cars and have done other people's cars and even though I have my products a long time, they do last. The shelf life of the products if kept from being frozen or extreme heat is a long time.

If your in Canada, it would be hard to get the sample bottles from ADS unless you know someone in the states that could get them for you.

Like someone mentioned, get larger sizes for the stuff you would use a lot and smaller sizes for the stuff you don't use a lot.

^^ I agree.. I use on avg. 4-5oz. of polish per each step around the car... so maybe 10-15 max on a usual 2-3 step detail... if you have one car, definitely buy a 32oz. bottle of each and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the information guys! I guess I don't need to buy the largest sizes after all.

And yes, I have an offer from another MOL member who has a residence in the US that will help to move the product across the border (legally of course :-) )

Nappers, I'm afraid I may have the beginnings of a sickness - last weekend I cleaned my gas pedal with a scrub brush and APC to get the mud off! Should I be concerned? LOL
