  • Need help with my Maintenence Plan

    Hey guys,

Right now 95% of my truck's finish is swirl free and there are a couple of spots on the tailgate and fender where there is extremley small swirling, so small that you have to really look for them even in direct sunlight. I also have a couple RIDS that i have to take care of on my next polishing session. The thing is i dont want to buff out the whole truck by hand again with a combination of SwirlX and Ultimate Compound that i did a month ago to get that 95% percent swirl free finish. I wash properly so i dont have to worry about the swirls coming back bu i would also like to use a cleaner/polish every 2-3 months for some genral paint cleaning and polishing so my truck can look its best. Here are my questions?

Wouldnt SwirlX be too aggressive to use every three or four months for correction by hand?

I want to do another full detail in about a month, would this work out okay:

    Wash
    Clay
    M80 or M09
    M21

or would an AIO be better:

    Wash
    Clay
    Color X or M20
    M21

Just wanted to see what would work better for maintaining that swirl free finish, i have the proper washing etiquette down but im not sure what would work best in the future for the next time i clean and polish the paint

    Thanks in advance

It really depends on how much success you have keeping the swirls off. When working by hand, I doubt any AIO will have the grunt to really remove most swirls, so SwirlX might still be your meal ticket.

My suggestion would be to wait until you are ready to do this, and then use test spots. See what gives you the easiest satisfactory results. I think ColorX on a monthly or bi-monthly basis would be a smart move, though.

        Thanks Mark,

I am doing a good job fighting those swirls off, but its no easy task, well for me at least. hopefully s session of ColorX or M80 every couple months will get rid of any little swirling that might take effect.

        Thanks again Mark

It is hard to keep a vehicle swirl free.
