  • Looking to combine some steps but need help

Summer's Coming Its time to get the process figured out for the vehicle. |
I bet that statement will be used alot in the next few months on this site!!

As I said, I have a few problems with my paint that I could use one product for it and the other problem with another product but, that gets to be alot of work doing it in the first place, let alone duplicating your self.

So, I have alot of swirl marks and light scratches, so i would more then likely use SwirlX but, on the other hand, I posted a topic awhile ago Fading Paint on my hood. Its a different shade of yellow. Pictures are there too!

With that being said, what product would be good to use to get all that done in one shot? Im guessing I would claybar first, use M105 or the ultimate compound, then a polish and wax?

Does it hurt to go with a agreesive product to start out so you know its doing a good job even if its not needed to be that agreesive? I will be doing it by hand more then likly. I do have access to power tools but, I dont feel like I do a good enough job getting everything with it.

    Comments and suggestions Please..
    HURRAY FOR SUMMER!

Re: Looking to combine some steps but need help

    Hey,

    Basically:

    1. Wash (2 Buckets, Grit Guards, Microfiber Mitt

    2. Clay (Smooth Surface Clay Kit

    3. Ultimate Compound

    4. SwirlX

    5. NXT 2.0 Tech Wax.

Click my Signature link for more info on the above.

You mentioned M105. Do you have a DA?
If so than use the M105/205 w/Polishing Pads

If you want a 1 step job than use ColorX

If you have a DA and still want a 1 step job, try D151

    Any other questions ?
    Matt

      Yes.

      Wash
      Clay
UC with a foam applicator pad

If the paint looks great after the UC you can go straight to wax, if you see any kind of dullness or haziness then follow-up with the SwirlX before applying wax or a paint sealant.

      Meguiar's teaches the philosophy of,

"Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

That said, if you focus on the task at hand and inspect your work as you're working, you can start with the Ultimate Compound and only work the product until you've improved the paint to the point that you want it and then quit working that section and move on.

Our SMAT products don't have to be worked until the abrasives break down since they don't really break down like our DAT products. This means you can stop working them anytime during the application process and still see great results.

Get your hands on some UC and some foam applicator pads and then play with it a little doing a Test Spot and you should be able to dial-in a process to remove the swirls and restore a show car shine by hand.

UC does more of the color effects like discolor and dullness then the light sctraches and swirls? SwirlX just has different formula that would do other things if UC didnt pick up on it?

I do have a orbital in the garage that I am wanting to get better at using.. It has been said you can tell a difference by using that then your hands? Just use the polish and final wax? I hope i can find pads for it!!
