  • clay - suggestion and a question

i've been using clay for about 6-7 years now.. back then I only knew of one company that made it (at least 1 company that put it on local store shelves) and clay is great. okay, first my question: I've since switched to using meguiars clay and wanted to know the difference between the professional clay bars c-2000 and c-2001 (diff between aggresive and mild or is it the obvious?) and the consumer version g-1116 not only in performance but in quantity?

now for my suggestion: i break off pieces of the clay before using it because in my opinion if you drop the clay on the ground its useless. by breaking pieces off this way if u drop it no biggie just break off another piece.

    Hi DefJux921,

Each of the clay bars offer a different level of aggressiveness with the Consumer clay bar being the least aggressive. The C-2000 medium clay in the Professional line is still safe for most people to use, but the aggressive clay in the Professional Line, C-2100 is too aggressive for use by non-professionals. It can potentially marr the surface. This isn't a problem for professionals as they are going to machine polish the paint after using a clay like this and the machine polishing will remove any marring or micro-scratching the aggressive clay instills.

The clay in the Quik Clay system is a 3.5 ounce bar and the clay bars in the Professional Line are around 7 ounces.

now for my suggestion: i break off pieces of the clay before using it because in my opinion if you drop the clay on the ground its useless. by breaking pieces off this way if u drop it no biggie just break off another piece.
Good suggestions, a lot of people place their clay bars into sandwich baggies to keep them clean.

u get 2 bars with the professional line rite? are they each 7 ounces or each 3.5? total of 7 or total of approx 14?

thanks! i also place mine in a sandwich bag after spritzing the clay with quick detailer or final inspection. i'm figuring if i get the mild professional clay you can keep it in the tin it comes in? (at least thats how it looks from the picture, no?)

also, i should probably start a new topic for this which i will if u want me to, but does meguiars sell "the perfect" brush for cleaning the foam polishing and finishing pads you sell for the pc?
