here is Australia the sales rep for my state tells me that #83 is an older product and not available .. I have used #9 and found that it is not agressive enough, so i thought #83 with my rotary buffer. The rep recommended #82 ... but i dont know much about this product? Would this be a more agressive way of getting rid of swirl & spider web marks?

also on another note can i use NXT over my gold class wax?

    thx for reading

#82 and #9 have comparable strength in terms of aggressiveness. If you wanted to get more aggressive, I suggest #83 but if the rep says they don't have it (weird), try #80.

Yes, I would suggest using NXT over Gold Class because is uses synthetic polymers which give the paint a stronger protection and unmatched shine!

      Bri,
On that note, which wax (GC or NXT) do you feel makes the finish smoother? I always ask that because I'm really big on having the slickest finish possible. Also, I take it that the NXT last longer, right?

      Thanks,

        Slats,

On my feel, I think that GC leaves a much smoother surface.. Maybe because it has some carnauba on it and NXT is a synthetic wax. I don't know if NXT lasts longer but I'm pretty sure that it protects the finish better!

          Hey,

Meguiar's #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish was developed with BC/CC in mind as was the rest of the 80 series, including #82 Swirl Free Polish. It is a fairly new product when compared to products that were designed for single stage paints.

Meg's #83 is an excellent product that will remove light to moderate swirl marks. It is more aggressive than either the the #9 or #82.

Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze is in between the #83 and the #82 in terms of aggressiveness. However, #80 also contains TS Oils and a paintable polymer. Hence, it would be a good choice for light swirls and topped with NXT Tech Wax.

As for smoothness between, NXT and GC, I would give the edge to the NXT. Meg's NXT is an excellent product IMHO!! But again when it comes to having a smooth surface, prep is the key!!!

ok so it looks like number 80 is the next on the tree to try
as NXT is v.new to Australia im keen to pick up a bottle and give it a whirl also.

would i be correct in assuming that i should use a Foam Polishing Pad (W8000/W8006) for this step?

            thanks to all sofar.

              SprintKing,

I would definitely get some NXT Tech Wax, it's amzing stuff!

Yes you are correct, the polishing pad is the one you would want to use with #80 although I have heard of some people using the finishing pad (haven't tried it myself though).

With the NXT Tech Wax make sure to use two coats and allow the first to cure for atleast 12 hours if possible. 2 coats always look much better with NXT than 1!

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out and take some pictures!
