  • PC Pad Storage Idea

I've been reading lots of posts about taking care of PC pads and they all seem to agree that they need to be open to air in order to dry and not grow mold and such. My idea would be to put a thick strip of velcro on the wall in my shed to stick the pads to when I'm done. Would leaving them wide open to the air like this be ok?

I dry mine than place them in large freezer bags so they can't get dirt on them.

I like the idea for drying the pads overnight. I prefer to store in a zip lock in storage box where they are less likely to become dirty again.

We go through a lot of foam pads in the garage because of the clinics and store them in built-in cupboards that are in the garage. The garage is pretty clean and we keep the doors closed to reduce dirt and dust particles from getting onto the pads.

In the morning, before the class starts, I'll clean the pads I'm going to use by placing them on the rotary buffer and running a nylon brush over the face of the pad after bringing the RPMs up to a high speed.

When I used to have my own detail business I let my pads dry on in open air and then stored them in plastic tubs.

Because I have always owned a rotary buffer, and because I often am going to use the rotary buffer in the detail, I almost always place my foam pads onto the rotary buffer, spin them at the highest RPM and then clean them by running a nylon brush across the face and sides of the foam.

This removes any dirt or dust particles as well as leftover dried product residue.

I found the best way of storing my pads is a Ziplock "vegetable" storage bag. The special vegetable bags have small vents that let the bag breathe but don't let any dirt in. It is a great way of keeping them clean and dry, and they're available at almost any grocery store.

            mikevsop,

That's a good idea I'll have to try that. Maybe ill stick them up to dry then store them in the vegetable bags.

            Thanks!

That is a good idea, but I still wouldn't want my pad's out in the open like that. I dry mine in the sun. Here is a idea I got from my job. It is a grape bag that has hole's in it.

What is I stuck the pads to a velcro strip and hung a sheet of thin plastic over it to keep dirt away?

I stick my pads to a strip of velcro and hang them in front of a fan to dry. Then I store them in breatheable ziploc freezerbags.

                    Cam,

The fan sounds like a good idea, I've never tried it though! The next time I use my pads I'll be sure to try the fan on them to help them dry quicker.

                    Thanks for the idea!
