    hi guys,
ive got a volvo C70 coupe(2000 model) which is a silverish color and i would like to detail it by hand. It has some swirls and some scratches and although im aware of the process to detail, im kinda lost/nervous about the product(s) needed to remove the swirls/scratches.

after washing, drying and claying the car, i believe the next step is to remove the swirls/scratches (before applying NXT WAX/POLISH).

My question is this: do i need to use the ultimate compound as this is an older car or will swirlx suffice??

i was going to use ultimate compound but having read a post "Ultimtate compund ruined my car" im scared...

any help advice would be greatly appreciated

    Regards

    1 .Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Clean - SwirlX is certainly a product you want to get. Jumping right to UC is a big jump, generally dont want to start off that strong if you dont need to. Now SwirlX may or may not be enough, but you will want it around for future details, so it wont go to waste.
    4. Polish - SwirlX is a cleaner/polish, so this would be optional.
    5. Wax - 2 coats of your favorite wax.

SwirlX is for paint... doesnt really matter what year it is from.

The only question is how deep/severe are the swirls/scratches, and how hard is the paint?

You wont know that till you try to remove the defects. As I said, UC is a very strong product to jump straight to, without trying something milder first. So SwirlX would be where to start.

Just to a test spot or test panel at first. You dont need to do the entire car to see if it will work or not.
