    What's the best wax?

I'm wondering if there is any independent company that tests and rates the performance of all the different brands on the market! I saw a quote the other day that Pinnacle and the other was by Zanio were the best. There sure is a lot of hype online and I would like to know what I can depend on!fficeffice" />

I have a 1931 A truck with custom Lacquer paint. What can you use? What shows and last the best!

Is paste better than liquid in NXT?

I wish I could uplad a picture of the truck, but don't know how to insert a link.

You can try doing a search for such a company using Google, I'm not aware of any off-hand and if you find one you might check with what they charge to do such a test.

Threads on forums about testing waxes almost always turn into flame wars as people tend to get emotional about which brand they give their affection and loyalty to. We don't allow any bashing of people, products or companies on this forum and any thread that includes this will be closed very quickly.

The best test is the test you do yourself, purchase the products you're most interested in like the Zaino and the Pinnacle and apply them according to their directions, remove them and then inspect the results and make up your own mind which product you like on your car's paint. People are all different and there's never going to be a product that will make 100% of the people happy 100% of the time.

The most important aspect of maximizing the beauty of your car's paint no matter what kind of paint it is comes down to surface prep, that is insuring all the defects like swirls and scratches have been removed. If you do a GREAT job or preparing the paint for application of a wax or paint sealant then a quality wax or paint sealant will take your pre-work results to an even higher level.

What do you currently use for compounds and polishes? Have you seen these new products we introduced this year?

I tried to go to the website for the truck you sent me the pictures to but couldn't find your truck. The pictures in the e-mail you sent me makes it look like it has a metallic finish? Can you post the link to the webpage or e-mail me the full size photos and I'll upload them into your gallery here on this forum.

In the Meguiar's line, it comes down to personal preference, you choose whether you like applying a paste or if you prefer a liquid instead as the formulas are the same, it's just the form they are in that is changed. What do you know or read about the difference on other forums you hang out on?

      Hey, Welcome to MOL!

You can stick with the default font

Meguiar's NXT 2.0 Tech Wax is the best IMO. I'm being honest. I have tried many others.

Paste is not better than Liquid, just different application...Just use the liquid though

Your correct, Zaino, Pinnacle and a few others always get a lot of hype, but you cannot believe everything you hear. Even Magazines and other reviewers will push a certain brand for money, sponsorship, etc.

"Find Something You Like and Use It" as Mike P. Always says

You should really try the NXT Wax. There isn't better

Re: NXT & Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax

A very popular consumer magazine recently did a test of various waxes and the two that they chose as best buys, or their top choice, whatever, carried the disclaimer that both tended to lightly scratch dark colors. That sort of begs the question "how can a wax be a top pick if it actually scratches dark colored vehicles?". It should also lead one to believe that this particular publication has a serious lack of understanding of the whole process - the vehicles they had were all clear coated so any scratching would be in the clear, not the color, and fine scratches just plain tend to show up easier/better on dark colors. Further, who here believes that ANY well known wax on the market today will actually scratch your paint? Anyone? Thought not. Perhaps a delicate paint touched a bit too aggressively with a poorly selected applicator/towel will result in some very fine marring. But they failed to mention that, most likely because they failed to understand it.

Mike Phillips nails it with this:

          Re: What's the best wax?

          A the classic question!
Well "the best" anything depends on your point of view
If it works for you and you like what it does then, "it's the best in your opinion"
Obviously we members here at Meguiar's On line think Meg's is dam good! and all others are poo! JK! JK!
          Try any product you want
You have to see what works for you, your paint and your skill level.

I personally like NXT-liquid, goes on fast, comes off fast
to me "the best"-then again I haven't tried everything.

Re: How much time to wait before applying a second coat of wax?

Will a second coat of NXT make that much difference in the shine or lenght of duration?

I'm using it on a 31 A pickup with Laquer paint? Any problems?

Is the paste better than the liquid??

Re: How much time to wait before applying a second coat of wax?

Well, 2 coats ensures unifrom coverage.... the more unifrom the surface, the better as far as gloss/shine goes.

Nxt will work on laquer just fine.

Whichever you feel is easier for you to use is the one to go with.

Re: How much time to wait before applying a second coat of wax?

If two coats are good then a dozen is better or are we talking overkill!

Then there is absolutely no difference in the liquid or the paste. One is just as durable as the other? Then why use the paste at all?

My truck has a ton of Stainless inside and out! What is the best for it??? NXT?

What do you have to do to post pictures to this forum? I'm assuming you must upload them to some site that you can link to your letter?

Re: How much time to wait before applying a second coat of wax?

Dan, your question about multiple coats of wax is addressed here in the Meguiar's FAQ.

As far as deciding between liquid and paste, that is purely personal preference. Some people prefer the liquid, some prefer the paste.

I also have a 1946 Chevy truck with running boards I had coated with Rhino Lining! What can you use to clean them and make them sparkle??

I have a bedliner on my truck and it is Line X which is very similar to Rhino lining. I use Meguiars Deep Crystal Car wash and APC along with a long handled wheel brush for scrubbing. If i have a stain i use M39 and M40. The Deep Crystal Car Wash is better for this because i can use more and its only 3.99 at Target

Yes, soap for gentle cleaning and All Purpose Cleaner for stronger cleanings would work well. Then you could dress it with something like the Gold Class Trim Detailer.
