  • Claybaring my car!

    Hello,

I'm going to attempt to clay bar my car in the next few days. How long can I expect this to take? Also, is there a really good write-up on how to do this? I've never done this before, so I'm thinking it would be a good idea to do this before I polish and wax my car with my PC. If someone could offer some advice/tips, etc that would be great!

    Thanks!

Also, which clay bar kits seem to work the best?

The video is informative! After watching it, I feel confident enough that when the time comes I'm ready to do it. As with anything, just be patient and take your time!

        Re: Claybaring my car!

On my midsize SUV it takes roughly 30min - 1 hour. On my full size truck about 45min - 1 1/4 hours. This being your first time and on a car I would plan for up to an hour just to be safe. You definately want to do this after washing before polishing/waxing. For a beginner just the regular clay bar kit should work fine.

I would agree. A hour should be plenty. After you do the paint, clay your glass. It makes a big difference.

Great! Thanks for the video! That answers all of my questions. I'm going to order the Meg's Smooth clay kit. Does anyone know if this product is available at stores such as Autozone, Wal-mart, etc? If so, I'll just go pick it up and save on the shipping and handling!

            Thanks again, guys!

yeah the smooth surface clay kit is available a wally world, and id be suprised if autozone didnt have it so you should be good there.

I personally used the clay kits white clay before but after a meeting with Nick Chapman, i really like the blue mild clay, it goes much quicker and you get more clay. However, since its your first time, id say go with the kit to be safe, and it shouldnt take to long if you dont have a big car

Claying is not hard to do at all. Nothing to worry about guys.

Depending on how thorough the job and the size of the vehicle, about an hour.

                  Re: Claybaring my car!

I have a mid size 2-door coupe and it took me about 30 minutes to clay. This includes the glass.

You should definitely clay your car; it makes a world of difference.

You might buy an extra bottle of QD, just to feel comfortable. Dont want to use too little lube.
