Re: HELP: APC on Steering Wheel

It almost looks like part of the plastic coating has been worn away from your hands on the wheel. Could that be possible? Do you have any M39 you can use to clean the surface?

39 or 40 will clear that up with no problems

Another option, if you can't get any 40 locally. Run down and grab a magic eraser. Wet it, and lightly rub the effected areas. This should remove everything. Then treat it as you normally would.

        I agree.

If something has been worn off, either by use or by the product, it will be hard to match up.

It looks more worn away then damaged from the apc. Next time try the apc @4:1. Remember least aggressive first.

If it's vinyl, then you might consider using M39 to give the steering wheel a deep cleaning and hopefully remove all of the Hyperdressing. Then you'll be able to see the true condition of the vinyl and determine whether it's been damaged. Being a water-based product, I would think that Hyperdressing would be fairly easy to remove.

Isn't 4:1 dilution of APC too strong for interior vinyl? I believe that 10:1 is the recommended ratio for medium-duty cleaning. Perhaps you might want to try the 10:1 ratio to remove the Hyperdressing.

What dilution ratio did you use for the Hyperdressing? If I recall correctly, Michael Stoops recommends 2:1 for high shine, 4:1 for low shine.
