    Pure Polishes?

    I just bought the new SwirlX and Ultimate Compound for my truck and I also plan to give it a good claying and waxing with NXT 2.0 wax. I will be washing first with the NXT car wash. I understand it is good to also use a pure polish to really enhance the gloss. What pure polish would you guys recommend to be used by hand?

    To give a little background my truck is white, a daily driver and has some paint that was neglected before I bought it. Since it has been babied but still needs something to remove a lot of swirls and stains in the paint. I am wanting to make my truck look as good as possible.

    Claying, then using swirlx or UC before wax will certainly improve the condition. You will just get tired doing the entire car in swirlx or UC by hand.

    You could use a polish after the paint cleaner before the NXT. #7 Show Car Polish is the most popular. However, it tends to enhance the color primarily on darker color cars. You could probably notice it on white, but you probably wouldn't be missing out on too much, by skipping a polish too. the Swirl X and UC leaves the finish quite good looking.

      I imagine this is one of those situations where one just have to try it and see for oneself. The consensual wisdom is that oil-based glazes, or pure polishes, do not add much to white or light-colored cars; but I have read the testimonies of some, both here and on other sites, of those who swear that a pure polish does add something extra, even to a white car. On the other hand, everyone agrees that the better the polishing preparation, the less a glaze adds to the finish.

      Some companies offer synthetic glazes that might potentially add something to white paint. I'm thinking here of a product like Danase Wet Glaze. But I honestly doubt that it would add anything that two coats of NXT would not offer.

      But there's only one way to find out. Give a pure polish a try and see for oneself.

      #7, #81, and DC2 would all be excellent products with which to experiment. The polling data indicates that #7 is the favorite here on MOL.

        Thanks for the advice you two.
        My wife also has a golden color car that is considerably darker but I wouldn't put it in the dark or the light grouping. Medium would be how I would describe it. I am still planning on claying, touch ups in certain areas with SwirlX, and finish with NXT 2.0. In your opinions do you think that #7 will help this?

        This car is also a daily driver, parked in garage at night, parking garage during the day, and has never been through a car wash (always washed by hand). There are a few swirls on the passenger side of the hood because of some bodywork to remove a hail ding and of course they buffed it and didn't know what they were doing.

          If you are in a low humidity area, #7 would be the best choice. If you suffer from high humidity like we do in Florida go with #5. I learned the hard way. lol.

            M07 is the best, but I use Deep Crystal Step 2 Pure Polish which can be found anywhere. IT really does do a nice job

            Pure polish will make any paint color look more "glossy" of course use it on your wife's car, and all of your vehicles as well

            1. Wash
            2. Clay
            3. Ultimate Compound
            4. SwirlX
            5. Pure Polish of your choice
            6. NXT 2.0 Wax
            7. Ultimate Quik Detailer/Wax

              i really like using M07 by hand. But DC2 is also a great pure polish.

              and if your working by machine theres M03 Machine Glaze

                M03 can also be used by hand or DA Polisher.
