  • Big Lots! in-store brand (Auto Matics) detailing supplies

I was just at Big Lots! this evening and noticed an expanded section of detailing supplies in their automotive aisle where the auto detailing overstock (older Meguiars products, Black Magic, Turtle Wax) are usually shelved. The brand name is Auto Matics and apparently is distributed exclusively by Big Lots. Microfiber wash mitts and Chenille MF wash mitts for $3 each, bundles of 5 MF 12"x16" towels for $3, three glass wiping cloths bundled for $2, MF drying towels 23.5" x 40" for $5 each, MF waffle weave towels for $3 each, and MF applicator pads packaged 2 for $1.50.

Unlike most of the items sold by Big Lots, the Auto Matics line seems designed to be regular stock.

I bought some of the glass wiping cloths last night and used them today. The quality seems to be good for all the products, and the price is really a bargain. I think the line is new, but has anyone used Auto Matics products?

Never heard of that brand. I hope that doesn't mean they are going to quit carrying Meg's.

A lot of people really like Big Lots, but I have been disappointed in the tool and automotive departments. That's the only two areas I have really looked in.
In all the years they have been around, I think I have purchased two items. A Meguiar's Body Brush and some yellow wax applicator pads.
I recently stopped to checkout a MF covered wash sponge that is sold under the Big Lots label. It is used and recommended by a very highly respected and knowledgeable professional detailer. The store had 6 on display @$2 each. Two of those 6 already had stitching coming apart. A 33% failure rate hanging on the display rack didn't impress me a lot. I left them all there.
