  • Scratches in windshield?

I have light scratches in my windshield and have not found a method to remove them. So far I have tried the Lake Country 5.5 Inch Glass Polishing Pad which I used with my PC and some Zaino glass polish. That did not even phase my scratches. I went to a rotary and the same pad and polish until the pad fell apart and I gave up. Do I just live with the scratches or replace the windshield or is there a majic cure out there that I missed for taking out windshield scratches?

Some of the glass places aroudn here advertise a resin that they put in chips/scratches, that could be an option.

Its pretty much that, or looking for other glass polishing items. I believe Eastwood is a company that makes some.

Remember, in order to remove a scratch or zillions of them, you need to remove the material surrounding the scratches, in this case that would mean removing glass.

Glass is very hard and doesn't lend itself well to being abraded and afterwards looking good or clear.

One product out on the market for removing light scratches in glass is made by the Eastwood company.

I've read on this forum that AutoDetailingSolutions.com also offers some kind of glass polishing kit or kits...

I have the Eastwood kit and a windshield with slight abrasions that I'll test this out on and post the results in about a month or so... until then you might give it a try yourself.

Just to clarify, did you remove scratches that were in the glass or remove water spots off the glass?

          There's a huge difference....

I have had great success using the glass polishing kit from ADS.It was simple to use and worked very well. However, it should be noted that the kit was used on our Household glass table tops. Not used on automotive glass.

Rick at ADS told me that he has a lot of customers that use his glass kit on there auto's glass with great success. I can only tell you how it worked for me in my application.

I would give Rick a call on Monday and see what he has to say about the kit. I have never known Rick to steer anyone wrong.

I removed the wiper blade's marks (like swirl marks) and a couple of deeper scratches have been reduced very very much....
It was almost impossible to look through the windshield when the sun was directly on it...Now just a few swirls left on it, i can say that i removed the 95% of them....
