Can you top 3M Performance Finish, which I understand is more like a sealant than a wax, with a Meguiar's wax, such as Gold Class Liquid Wax or ColorX? Or should you just use 3M with 3M and Meguiar's with Meguiar's? I haven't used many 3M products, but I know they own Meguiar's, so I was just curious. Thanks!

This is a finishing wax, it technically would be your LSP and thus wouldn't need to be topped.

Technically you could put anything over anything, but it might not look good when you're done, thus the reason for this thread,

I would say you could top it with gold class or any other pure wax. I think colorx is like a cleaner wax so you would essentially be removing the 3M finish with the light cleaning abrassives in the colorx.

You are spot on. ColorX, Cleaner Wax, M66, M06, D151 will leave wax protection behind, but if used on top of another wax they'll remove that previous coat in the process.

If you feel you really need/want to top one wax with another always be sure to use a non-cleaning product as the last step. NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0, Gold Class, M21, M26 would be good choices.

I recommend you to just use NXT 2.0 from Meg's.
