  • Need help dialing in a process

    Hello everyone,

I am going to be doing a full detail on my truck this weekend. i know what i am going to do when it comes to the interior, engine, tires, etc. but need help with what products i want to use on the paint. I am going to be working by hand and i know what i am in store for because i have done this before. This winter has also put some light swirling in my truck

What i know what i am going to do:

I am going to wash with NXT Car Wash

I am going to clay with the Smooth Surface Clay Kit with LT

For a paint cleaner i want to use Swirl X on the entire truck but i have couple RIDS so i may also have to use UC and Scratch X 2.0,

i know i want to seal the paint with M21

    What i am unsure about:

    1. Would Swirl X be the most ideal for using on the entire truck or should i use Utimate compound on the entire truck and then go to SwirlX?

    2. I am not sure which Pure Polish i want to use, i have M07 and DC2 but i really wnated to use M80 because it is a cleaner/polish. so M80 or M07? the only thing thats stopping me is that its not a pure polish so should i do M80 and M07 after Swirl X

    3. I know i am throwing a lot of questions at you guys but even if you could anwser at least one or lay out a process for me i would be happy. i really need a full detail with individual steps so please try not to recomendd AIO's because i have used them all winter and i can achieve better results with individual steps

    thanks again

Re: Need help dialing in a process

Hey Tuck, it really depends on the condition of the paint, and how bad the RIDS and Swirls are. Do a TEST SPOT with The SwirlX and see if it removes all of the Defects, or meets your expectations. If it does, than just do the entire car with it. If it doesn't than, use UC and then SwirlX. You don't need M80 afterward IMO, but you could if wanted since it finishes nice. If you are going to use M80, than I would not use SwirlX.

As far as Pure Polishes go, I have only used DC2. It works great for me, but the others on here say that M07 is The Best. So it's kind of your opinion on that one.

    So it'd look like this:

    W/ Only SwirlX:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. SwirlX (Spot Use of UC on RIDS)
    4. M07 (or DC2)
    5. NXT 2.0 Wax

    W/UC & SwirlX:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Ultimate Compound
    4. SwirlX (or M80)
    5. M07
    6. NXT 2.0 Wax

Re: Need help dialing in a process

thanks for he quick response, the condition of the paint is very well and has always been maintained byt the standards of the 5 Step Paint Crae Cycle, but it needs a clay and some light swirl removal. all that salt does a number on the side of the truck and especially the lower parts of the doors,

      thanks Megafast
