  • Why Did This Happen?

Today I used wheel brightener first time using 10:1 and was wondering why did it turn the disc yellow? is it normal? did i do something wrong?

It appears to be rust, that tends to happen when a wheel cleaner is used, esp a strong one.

          Re: Why Did This Happen?

Totally normal on almost every type of brakes I've worked on. Like Mat said, just drive it down the street and stop and it will all go away.

Thats what happens when you put acid on metal.

For a customer, you might move it in the driveway first if you think they will be worried, then QD the wheels.

Theres a lot of iron in the rotors so they rust quickly when they get wet. They will do it anytime they get wet. Mine even do it when it rains.

gee great thread. I just ordered some wheel brightener, if that happened to me on the first time using it with a customer's car I would probably pass out , good to know.

Happens on my Mustang. In fact, one time, the car sat long enough for the pads to sorta rust to the rotor. Had to break it free...
