bumpers and rotaries
when using a rotary on bumpers and trim that are plastic underneath the paint how careful do you have to be i know the heat does not disipate like it does on metal???

You should check the surface temp throughout your work to be on the safe side. It doesn't mean you can't use a rotary, but rotaries with foam pads in particular do generate a lot of heat. -

You can but very often touch the surface to feel if it's hot

Yes...I would check for heat with the DA as well just to be on the safe side.

You can check if you are needing to be particularly cautious, but I can't see it being a problem. Without the forced rotation, and significantly higher speeds of the rotary I think the DA should be a safe way to tackle plastic sections without the fear of warping the plastic.Originally posted by Ryan L.
