  • Filller Question

Sorry to ask so many questions so fast. My questions is regarding my understanding of "fillers". My understanding is that any LSP type product that leaves something behind (protection) is going to have a "filling effect". Because the wax sealant or whatever is left on the surface it has a tendency to "smooth-over" or fill in small scratches or swirl marks lessening their appearance. And that a paint cleaner uses abrasives to acually smooth the edges of the scratch rather than "hide" them. Is this true or am I way off?

That is correct. IF a wax or paint sealant doesn't leave anything behind on the surface then it's not working and why use it?

That is mostly correct. If you have enough film-build, that if the paint is thick enough and the scratches are not too deep then you can completely remove them by removing enough paint and thus level or flatten out the paint.

    What are you working on?

      Re: Filller Question

I've been detailing cars for some time now. I have a basic idea of how everything works, just not sure of terminology and the mechanics of it all. trying to learn s much as possible. I figure if it's something I'm not sure about than someone else probably isn't either.

That's the great thing about forums. Many can learn from someone asking a question. Feel free to ask if you need any information. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

The following thread is relevant to your question about fillers:

          Does ScratchX have fillers?
