  • Is to much wax bad?

When I did some polishing this past weekend with some 205 with a DA i noticed it didn't really do much of anything. I realized that I waxed it with NXT 2.0 from the can about 3 days before. Is the polish not working because of the wax on the car?

This brings up another question do I need to always de-wax before i polish?

The detailing bug has hit you bad, hasn't it?

Polishing with any of Meguiar's cleaner-polishers should remove previously layers of wax.

How did you apply #205? With a D/A? With what pad and at what speed? What were you hoping to accomplish?

A cleaner/polish will remove any previously applied wax or paint sealant.

Could be you need a more aggressive product or possibly a tweak to your technique?

      Pad used?
      Speed Setting?

      Have you read through this?

Tips & Techniques for using the G110, G100, G220 and the PC Dual Action Polisher

You do not need to de-wax, that is chemically wipe the paint down before using any type of paint cleaner. For whatever it's worth, I've never done this one time in my entire life.
      • Wash
      • Evaluate the surface condition to determine which products to use
      • Move forward with the detailing session

Well I was just using a Sonus Polishing pad. I used speed 2 to apply the polish and 5 to work it in.

I was hoping to remove slightly moderate and light swirls...when I put a Xenon light over it, it seemed far worse than before with extremly light small swirls. I tried some m105 as well by hand I realized I did more damage than using the DA. I wonder if its just the pads because I never really noticed it when i used the new Meg 2.0 pads.

        *edit*
Yeah, I've read through that guide couple times. I use a DA only when I go back to school because how small and easier it is to use compared to my makita.

The first thing you might try is to do a test spot keeping all factors the same except try our yellow foam polishing pad and see that helps. Sort of like troubleshooting.

Besides that, M205 is a light finishing cleaner/polish so chances are you'll have to get more aggressive.

Maybe look for our new Ultimate Compound or ScratchX 2.0 and give one of them a try and then do a second pass using the M205 with a foam finishing pad.
