  • Please inform me about carkem, ardex, and pro chem products

I live in orlando /fl area and I want my car detailed. The detailer I am talking to said he uses carkem, ardex, and pro chem detailing products. I have never heard of these before. Can someone please tell me the quality of these products compared to Meguires?
Also, what do you think of the Auto Butler program available through my car dealer?

    Thank you.

Sorry I can not help here.
I think the chem products could be like the Detailer Line.

Ther are many threads about the various programs that the dealers offer. They usually go one of 2 ways. After the initial treatment they insist that you keep coming back every 3/4 months to get a "booster shot". Basically this is a way for them to charge you for x amount of details up front and give the boosters at a reduced price. For example, $499.00 for their butler up front. Then every 3/4 monthst when you come back, its anywhere from $19.99 to $39.99.

Or the other is a large fee up front, then so you do not void the protection, you can only use their sealant on the finish. Their sealant will run like $69.99 a bottle.

In my neck of the woods, these are the 2 ways of doing the dealers programs. I thought it was pertinent information seeing how close we are. About 60 miles or so.

As for the other part of your question. I have no experience with those waxes.

I hope this helps you out some what.

CarKem and Ardex are both supplies or chemicals to the detailing industry, you don't see much of an enthusiast following on any of the detailing forums for either of the brands but that doesn't mean they're not good products, just not popular with enthusiasts.

The most important thing before getting your car detailed is to decide what you want, show car finish or just the basics, and do you want the interior cleaned and detailed also.

If the car is a daily driver then just stick with the basics and look for a detail shop that has a good reputation.

The things you want to avoid is any detailer using a rotary buffer for ALL the steps when working on the paint as it's common to end up with a swirled-out finish.

          What are you working on?

            Mike,

That is the first time I've seen you write such a thing (maybe you have elsewhere, I just haven't seen it), but I think it is really a great piece of advice.

Frankly, before I started on MOL, I thought a "buffer" was a "buffer" was a "buffer". (I never new the distinction between oribtals, DA's and a rotary). If a guy picked up a rotary for EVERYTHING, I would've never known the difference. Simply that he was a pro and must be doing the right thing.

Having seen photographs of some cars (holograms and burns) after "pros" detailed the cars, you begin to realize there is a whole lot more to detailing than simply picking up a "machine" and spinning it against the paint.

            Great piece of info! Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. That helps. I have a 2004 Lincoln LS V-8 with cashmere tri-coat paint. Leather interior. I do want the interior done also. What is average price for full detail inside and out?
