  • Winter's coming, What is the best combo for strength for a car in storage.

Well I'm hopefully gonna store my car this weekend.

    The storage place is HEATED!

I have a few Meguiar's products laying around such as

    #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax
    #20 Polymer Sealant
    NXT Tech Wax
    ColorX

I don't want to have oxidation problems when it comes out of storage so what is the BEST combo for ABSOLUTE STRENGTH?

I just waxed it last week with just #26.

    Hi 78_Caprice,

The #26, #20 and NXT Tech Wax are going to provide better protection and longer lasting protection than the ColorX primarily because the ColorX is a one-step cleaner/wax. There's less protecting ingredients in the bottle because their are also cleaners and polishing oils in the bottle too.

Of of the other three, NXT Tech Wax is Meguiar's best protecting formula. Apply two well worked in coats and put the car in storage.

Thanks Mike for the quick reply!

as for NXT I would love to use it but I think it might be oeverkill for my paint thinning problems.

I totally forgot about mentioning that.

I guess the 20/26 combo would be best? and how long should that hold up seeing since the car will be sitting in heated storage.

If the car is going to be in storage, and not used, then you could use any of the three waxes and just be careful around the thin areas and only put a very light coat on them so that they are protected.

If you want to play it safe, then use the #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax.

Yeah because I'm really concerned about oxidation coming back and I won't be able to cut it again because the paint is already thin.

so I guess I'll use the #20/#26 (so I should apply #20 one day then apply the #26 the next day right?)

Also the #20 won't eat away at my paint over storage right?

I also plan on putting a cover over top of it just a thin breathable one will that be fine?

            Hi 78_ Caprice,

For maximum results, allow some time to go so that the polymers in the #20 can fully set-up and then apply a thin, gentle application of the #26.

The #20 does contain a light chemical cleaner, but after you work this product in, allow it to dry and then wipe it off, it will not continue to clean or anything else except to protect.

Any quality car cover should be just fine.

Hey Mike sorry to keep this thread going but I got another question for you lol.

I'm going to be washing it on saturday and applying the #20, now on saturday it's suppose to only be high 16 degrees celcius, will that be fine?

Also then on Sunday I will be applying the #26 and it's suppose to be only 7-9 degrees celcius.

Will I be fine or is this a waste of my time and product?

I've detailed in temps just above freezing before and didn't seem to have any problems except it takes longer to work the products and waxes than when its warm.

oh yea, and my fingers where freezing!

                    I can't stand living here!!!!!!!!

just finished lookin at the forecast and washing my car, it says chance of snow or rain tommorow and tonight. So Frustrated I really wanted to put a coat of #20/26 on it before it goes away.

I have no clue what to do now cuz it deffinately has to go away this weekend. What are the chances of getting oxidation during heated storage? you cannot visit your car until you decide to take it out so that means you cannot apply or work on anything on the car.

it was waxed last week with just #26 but it rained all during the week and I just washed it today.

                    Some one please help.
