  • Ice and snow on new paint job???

I picked up my car after having the rear quarter panel and bumper repaired and painted and the next day we have an ice storm and the car is currently covered with 1/2" of ice.

Is the clear coat going to be ruined?

    Or.............

If I carefully wash the ice off with water today (it's gonna be 50 degrees today), will the clear coat be OK?

Chances are there's no damage and nothing to worry about. If there is any damage it's too late to reverse it. You won't know until you get the snow and ice off and inspect.

      Welcome!

Having experienced this many times....you have nothing to worry about. Just don't try to remove any ice in any way other than letting it melt off. Water from the hose is a good idea to speed up the process.

I hosed it off while it was melting in the rain today. It's still raining so I couldn't get the a good look at the surface, but it may be OK.

As others have said, you should be fine. I might add..."providing it was quality work". Had my bumper done a month ago, and I was concerned also. For a month it was covered with salt, ice and snow. Quick rinse a few days ago, and the bumper is pristine.
