  • Need Help with what products to buy

Hello everyone I went to the first 2009 class because I got a new car and want to actually learn how to take care of it. I learned a lot and forgot some so I am going to go to another class on Jan 24th after learning a lot from this forum I will actually know what they mean by referring to numbers like the M105, G110, ect... Well my car is a 2009 Nissan GTR Premium and it is Dark Gun Metallic and here are some pictures of Godzilla...

I love this car and want to make her look like a show car and want a shiny glossy finish with no swirls or water spots as this car is new I do not want to put anything too aggressive on her nor do I want to remove more then whats needed.

Currently I have been washing her with turtle wax ICE car wash but I want to detail her some time soon and needed help buying the ideal products for my car and needed some of your help choosing which products to buy and had a few questions...

Here is the Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle

    Step-1 Washing
    Step-2 Cleaning or Surface Prep
    Step-3 Polishing
    Step-4 Protecting
    Step-5 Maintaining

Now I have already decided to get the G110 after my first class and that is the only machine I have to use.

1.Washing>>>I currently have Turtle Wax ICE Car Wash and once done I will switch to Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash. I have a wool mitt and cheap home depo microfiber cloth, and a chamois.
    _________________________________________

Now as for what I was thinking for the rest of the steps is

1.Buying Grit Gard and in the future will have GC Wash Solution, and going to buy Water Magnet Drying Towels

2.I have Smooth Surface Clay Kit, what else you think is needed?

3.Ultimate Compound Need help deciding any recommendation (remember this is a new car so it has only a few swirls)

    4. I need help deciding which wax to use I am confused between
M20, M21, M26...need your opinion currently leaning towards buying the M21
Going to also buy Supreme Shine Microfiber Towels

    5. M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer
(I read good comments about this one)

Please help me with any information possible because I wanted to get my order in by tomorrow

    Great choices.

Never hurts to have some extra foam applicator pads for applying wax or dressings by hand.

Extra buffing pads are always a plus too...

Probably too over the top for what you need to do, might be able to solve the problem with SwirlX but it couldn't hurt to have both Ultimate Compound and SwirlX in your tool chest which will enable you to tackle just about any thing that comes your way.

All three are great waxes with strong and loyal followings, the only real way you can decide which one is best for you is to try them yourself on your car. Seriously, any one of them would be a great wax to start with, maybe go with M21?

There's M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer is that what you're thinking of?

Hey, you have a really nice car and i really like the color of your paint. Now that you have covered the tools of the job to take great care of your exterior, you might be interested in some interior care products such as:

      Quik Interior detailer
      Leather cleaner/conditioner
      APC?

You have a really nice car and I am sure you will love taking care of it

Thanks for your kindness but I already vacuum my interior and it's pretty clean and I do not understand the point of using anything else then that and Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer Interior Wipes but I do not see much point in using it as it does not change the finish much...

My main concern in the outside and making it glossier, shinier, and more beautiful

lsp= Last step product, or your finish coat of wax or sealant. You mentioned M21 in your post, I would go with that. Just my opinion though.

                        Awesome Car!

M21 is a good wax for silver or so I've read It's a synthetic wax, some have compared it to NXT series. It's not a relabeled NXT.

M20 is a great wax with some cleaning abilities with it although very light. Check your PBE stores, harder to find in stores.

M26 is a great wax, dries clear and pretty tough. It's pretty easy to find.

NXT 2.0 (and NXT 1.0 for that matter) is a tough glossy wax and very durable. You can see the difference when applying the wax and you can actually see where you missed applying wax. It's also readily available.

A popular combo is M21 topped with M26. (or vice versa .....)

Here's a great link that Mike did on waxes....
What are the differences between Meguiar's waxes

So far I narrowed down to
                          1. SET Turtle Wax ICE
                          2. SET Smooth Surface Clay Kit
3.?????STILL CONFUSED WHICH WILL BE BEST FOR MY CAR
                          4. SET M21
                          5. SET M135

Re: Need Help with what products to buy

Number 1. Turtle wax ice? is it a car wash? Meguiar's car washes are clear coat safe and good stuff. NXT wash is pretty slippery stuff, GC soap is great stuff as well as the Mirror Glaze line.

                            Number 3.....

                            That is the big question.....

I've always started with M80 and work my way down or up depending on how much I need to correct my paint. Typically, my Neon is hard as nails clear coat needs some rotary time and an aggressive product. The Yukon on the other hand, M80 with touches of M83 is just fine.

I have not tried the new M105/M205 combo yet (M205 may do you good), nor have I tried the new products for '09 (not in my area yet!).

Also you need to figure out if you're going to do it by hand or by machine (PC, G110)

Re: Need Help with what products to buy

if you read my post I stated I will be purchasing G110 along side this order and also that the turtle wax ICE is a car wash soap solution but thanks for your time...

Also what I am confused about is the #3 what to purchase???

                              Ultimate Compound
                              ScratchX 2.0
                              M83
                              M205
                              M80

What do you think would be the best to use on my car in my situation? want a show car shine in the end
