Is scratch x safe on clear coat wheels? I noticed that the DC Step 1 Paint cleaner is too mild for taking out the brake dust out of my tires.

Another question I have does anyone have any tips/advice using hot rims on a clear coat rims. Also is hot rims acidic?

    thanks

I sprayed it on and rinsed it off for a little test I did between it and Eagle One A2Z today. Pretty dirty rims and they really could have used agitation with a brush. Otherwise, just follow the directions on the bottle

You may want to try an old clay bar on your wheels. And when you have em clean, protect them with a coat of your favorite sealant. Will make cleaning them in the future much easier!

The answer to this question is yes, ScratchX is safe for use on a clear coated wheel. A paint cleaner can be a great way to remove things such as stains from clear coated wheels, but I would not recommend it's use for removing stubborn brake dust. Since you will working in the product on a dry surface, the brake dust can potentially scratch the wheels.

Use a wheel brush to loosen the brake dust, or try using our Gold Class Instant Wheel Cleaner instead. It is more aggressive than Hot Rims but works great for removing baked on brake dust.

(Just a note: Gold Class Instant Wheel Cleaner is for clear coated or chrome wheels only)

today i scratch Xed my hood and fender....... after that i followed it w/ deep crystal polish...... then a coat of gold class paste wax.... turned out great.... my door looks like **** compared to my fender haha.... it took out most of the swirls.... some still there but its a huge improvement imo and when im done with whole car, i'll apply a second coat of gold class paste wax which i think would take out even more of the swirls
