I have noticed up one guy had an avatar that haf "meguiar's 5 step process" What is it....? i notice that polish before you wax. I have a bright red truck. i just get my meguiars from the local advance or wal-mart, what polish should i use , the "deep crystal"? Is this detailing scenario ok.... maybe mike could help...

    1)Wash (microfiber mitt) (NXT wash)
    2)Dry (Mirofiber towel)
    3)Clay (Clay Kit)
    4)Polish (WITH WHAT!!!)
    5)POSSIBLY SCRATCHX
    6)Wax (NXT)

    should i include anything else!!??

    Re: polishing?

Your going to want to use a paint cleaner before you polish with a Pure Polish

      Re: polishing?

Your process should look like this:
      1.Wash
      2.Clay
      3.ScrathX
      4.Polish
      5.Wax

But it really depends on the condition of the paint and your goal. Read the link, it will explain in detail the 5 step process.

You should apply a cleaner (ScratchX) after claying, but before polishing. Read through the 5 Step Paint Cycle thread Yalerd and TimG referenced.

We might be able to make better recommendations on your process/products if we knew if you were doing this by hand or machine. ScratchX will do a great job of removing fine swirls and scratches, but if you are doing the entire truck by hand, depending on your paint condition and what you are trying to accomplish, it could take quite a while and a lot of work and there may be more effective products to use.
