  • Looking for DA polisher advice

    Hi guys,
A few month ago I got my order from Meguiar´s and did my first detailing work on my car.
You can view all the relevant info right here:

Just got my order from Meguiar's.... Just have a little question, is this the correct order: Washing-->clay-->scratchX-->polish-->wax Then UQD for maintaining ? Or should I use Scratchx first, and then clay? Thanks!

Although i got great results, I wasnt able to remove lots of swirls.
I wanna get one of those DA polishers, I guess when working by hand you just can´t beat them all

    Anyway i´m looking for advice:
What kind of machine should i get? G100/G110?
Which cleaners or others products should i apply along with this machine ?
What else do I need ? pads? anything?
I would appericiate any tips as i have this great oppertunity to send this stuff to my country these days...

    Thanks,
    Sahar.

Re: Looking for DA polisher advice

I would go with the G110. It's a very nice machine and delivers more power than the G100.
Product wise M105/M205 are new combos that are DA approved, you could give that a try if you want. With this combo you can achieve great results!

As far as pads go, a couple of W8000 Polishing Pad (3 or 4) and W9000 Finishing Pads (2 or 3) could work out, you'll have plenty of Polishing Pads just in case and Finishing Pad for waxing or if you need to use M205 with it then you'll have a few as well. I would get the new 2.0 pads since they are machine washable

I know others with chime in

I believe that in your area it would be the G220, but the G110 is great. I would say get M80, M83 and M205, M21 or NXT Gen Tech Wax 2.0.

Re: Looking for DA polisher advice

If I had to do it all over again, based on everything I have read, I think I would go with the Flex 3401 instead of the G110.

I think you would have great success with the G110. It's probably the G220 overseas. The #105/205 is a great combo. If your car has single stage paint then you would probably want to go with #80/83 combo.

As for pads the new pads are machine washable, so not knowing how difficult it is to get Meguiars in your neck of the woods, you would probably want to stock up on these. The #7207,8207,9207.

Also if you plan on using the G220 to remove your wax using a 7207 pad, make sure you have a ample supply of microfiber bonnets to do the job,

          Good luck.

Being an owner and USER of both machines, **PRIOR** to the release of the new M105 and M205 I might have agreed if it was for someone looking to maintain more than 1-3 vehicles.

However, for personal users only (ie not detailing for money with time crunches), AND considering how awesome M105 and M205 are with the G110 now...I think I would give the nod to the G110.

I have and like the FLEX, as it is a great and versatile machine, but for the average car enthusiast I think the G110 still makes more sense. It is also about $125 LESS than the FLEX. You could buy a G110 with pads and product for the price of the FLEX alone.

Thank you guys for you replys!

I should have mention that i´m not a pro, i´m not a detailer also, I´m just a simple guy that likes keep his car in a good condition using eveything he can...
I´m buying the set of products for me and for my friend also so it should be small sizes bottels...

So this is the set you are offering me:

I would appericiate it if you will answer a few more question I have:

What is the diffrence between the new 3 pad types (2.0) ?
What is the diffrence between the G110 and the G220 ?
What is the diffrence between the 2 products m105 and m205?

Can´t I achieve good results with the products i´m allready own:
              • NXT car wash
                Clay kit+Quick detailer
                ScratchX
                Deep crystal polish
                NXT 2.0 wax
                Ultimate quick detailer
                +
A pair of even coat aplicators, wash mitt, a three pack of supreme shine and a water-
                magnet towel..
And just use the G110/G220 with the scratchx and the deep crystal polish? or do I need something stronger?

I MUST MENTION THE FACT I´M NOT A PRO, I´M LOOKING FOR PRODUCTS THAT CAN´T HARM MY CAR´S PAINT IN ANY WAY.

              Thanks again,

                The links check out.

You will only want the 8207 yellow pad and the 9207 BLACK pads, NOT the maroon pad (That is not for your type of polisher).

The difference between the G110 and G220 is that the 110 is meant for area that use 110 volt electricity (USA), and the G220 is for 220 volt (Europe).

As for using what you have, the "ScratchX" is the only product you have that is intended to actually remove defects. It is not nearly as aggressive as the other products I suggested (M105), and thus may not be sufficient, and certainly wouldn't be as [time] efficient.

*Deep Crystal Polish is a PURe polish, that is to say, it does not contain abrasives to remove scratches, but contains oils to rejuvenate the paint.

You should try a test spot with what you have now, see if the results are satisfactory, and if they are, then you have your answer!

If not, then you know where to try next.

M105 is an aggressive cutting compound that quickly removes deeper defects, yet leaves a remarkably refined finish. The M205 is an ultra FINE polish that fixes whatever minor imperfections were left behind from the M105 treatment, leaving a high gloss finish ready for wax.

Thank you very much for the reply
Just one thing i still dont know...
Those products in any hand or machine wont harm my car´s paint or there is a chance of harming the paint while using uncorrectly? with the g110 of course, which is, as far as i know, very gentle and non aggresive...

Not when used as directed and some common sense. Whenever starting a detailing session, after washing and drying the car clean, take the products, pads and process you're planning on using over the entire car and use them to just a small section of the paint, usually on the hood or deck-lid so you can look down on the results. Make sure you can make one small area look good with your products, pads and process of choice before going over the entire car.
