  • Waxing Question

Hello, have a few quick questions about waxing.

    1. Is there such a thing as waxing to much?
    2. If I were to first use a scratch removal wax and then the deep crystal cleaner wax (step #1), would the second wax undo what the first wax accomplished?

    My plan:
    1. scratch x
    2. deep crystal 1
    3. deep crystal 2 twice
    4. deep crystal 3
    5. maguiars gold class

Will be using an orbital buffer

    Thanks, Jon

    Re: Waxing Question

After a certain amount of coats it just becomes a waste of wax. Most people use 2 coats of wax.

A while back there was a thread about a guy fixing up a car on a different forum. It is a little long, but if you do not want to read it, the guy said after about 7 or 8 coats of wax the water beading did not get any better. 51 Coats of Zaino

        Re: Waxing Question

        It won't.

2 coats of wax is ideal. Some like to wait an hour prior to putting second coat of wax, others like to wait at least 12 hours.

I usually put a coat of wax on, clean interior, clean up my tools and what not then put on the second coat of wax (usually an hour or more depending on mess)

You also do not need to use ScratchX and then DC1. One or the other is fine.

            Re: Waxing Question

Never such a thing as waxing too much. I tend to put on another layer each time I wash. It doesn't feel like a true wash unless I do that

Currently my quickie wax of choice is Prima Banana Gloss. Instant haze (10 sec) for instant removal. Lasts a solid 1.5 months on my test vehicles
