  • Alternatives to taping car?

On the exterior of my car, I don't have any plastic/vinyl trims. It's either chrome or paint, but there are grooves. I was wondering if there is like some cheap puddy/paste I can fill into these grooves and easily remove later?

I ask b/c I'd prefer to go over these areas w/ the G110 + M205 combo instead of having to tape it up and then later go over it again w/ hand.

    Thanks.

Actually, I find that deflector shields work just as well as taping.

There aren't really any alternatives but if your using the G110 with the right technique, there should be little or no splatter or dusting coming up.

Taping is really your best option though.

I agree... the nice thing is with a PC if you take a little more time and really watch what you are doing you can get away without tape.

What are some tools I can use to get the excess out of the groove if they do get in there?

I rarely tape. I just do areas close to trim by hand. Life is too short to spend your time taping tape.

I use cardboard just as rough protection. I found when using tape sometimes polish still gets under it...

I tape when using the rotary with a ton of trim (our Neon), I also tape off area's that polish etc can get into a groove.

Once you taped a few times, it don't take long.

When I use a rotary, I tape bunches of stuff including edges and ridges. With a pc, I don't usually use tape.
