  • Clay Bar Recommendation

It's that time again to get rid of all the mud and what not from hunting season. I would like to get a some recommendations for clays. I normally get the Meguiars clay kit but really don't need another bottle of the spray as this is the only time I use it. I know that there are different clays out there and just wanted a general opinion of what to get. Don't think it matters, but the vehicle is a black CC Chevy.

If you have enough Quick Detailer or any other detailer you can get the new kit that Meguiar's introduced.
Smooth Surface Clay Bar Replacement Kit

    Or you can get
Mirror Glaze Professional Detailing Clay (Mild)

If you just need the clay then get them from Meguiars Direct or Auto Detailing Solutions. Do make sure you have enough lube for the clay though.

I would go with the c-2000 mild from the mirror glaze. Bigger bar, A tad more aggressive.

I agree the detailer line clays are nice.

Detailer line clay hands down... the mild is a great clay and works very well! You can use with Meguiars Quik Detailer. I have found the mild to be just a tad more aggressive than the consumer line, you get a larger bar as mentioned above.

Toss the bottle of QD in the trunk to use when birds or bugs wind up on your paint. I keep a bottle handy all the time for such occasions. I recently found a Smooth Surface Clay kit at WalMart for $12. Hard to beat the price. If you really can't use the QD give it away to a friend. I also am forced to use a Laser Touchless wash on occasion and find a QD after the wash gives the car a freshly detailed look. I always can find a use for the extra QD.
