    Hi Folks,

My daughter has a 2004 black Honda Accord I want to clean up for her. The paint is in good shape but the car needs a good waxing. It has some swirl marks and the usual scratches. What product should I use with a 10" buffer?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Meguiars Online!!
I would use a product like scratX and wax with NXT Wax.

Thanks Joel. We live up here in the Northeast and need to put on something to protect it from the salt & snow.

        Re: Detailing

If you want to remove the swirls, try SwirlX or ScratchX 2.0. Try SwirlX first though. I'm not sure when it'll be out in your area but it should be heading out now (it's brand new). 10" buffer? I'm assuming this is an orbital. You probably shouldn't try to use the SwirlX/ScratchX with an orbital because it won't do much. Try it by hand or if you have a dual-action polisher, use that.

A good wax is NXT Tech Wax 2.0. I have a black Honda and it looks really good with that wax on it.

I live in Wisconsin and NXT Tech Wax works great!!
Here is a link to 2009 Products the products are from least to most aggressive.
I hope that helps you pick out some products.
Remember Meguiars philosophy, work from the least to most aggressive method.
That means to start with the most aggressive method, see if the least aggressive works, and so on. Personal Message me if you are confused. Or maybe some one else can clear it up.

            Re: Detailing

I have some swirls on my white car. I tried Scratch X and made a few passes and it worked just fine. Not show car perfect but a def. improvement.

The key is to use the least aggressive product possible first and then move up so you don't remove too much paint or cause more damage.

I would use ScratchX by hand. I have recently obtained a DA and the new DA Approved ScratchX but I still prefer working by hand. I believe Mike Phillips has a writeup somewhere from the Mercedes Club of San Diego where he removed swirls and scratches by hand. Link is below....this was my guide.

                Re: Detailing

Try the scratch-x. You will probably need more then one pass to remove the defects. Also you will need to use a lot of "passion" behind the pad. Use the orbital for applying the wax. There is really not enough power to do defect removal.
