  • M40 Question

Is M40 an effective enough vinyl cleaner that I won't have to use something like M39, APC, etc., first?

    Thanks.

    Re: M40 Question

It depends on how dirty the surface you're starting off with is.

If it's really dirty, give it a good cleaning with a dedicated cleaner, and then just use M40 for protection and maintenance. If the surface ain't too bad just use M40. Try a test spot on your surface and see how you like it.

      Big word...."Depends".

I am use M40 for my interior and engine bay. It is a great protectant as well as a fairly good cleaner. For heavy dusting, I shoot the dash with Quik Interior Detailer then treat with M40 (or Natural Shine). I do give a thorough cleaning about twice a year with a dedicated cleaner (APC) then retreat.

A gallon of APC is cheap and can be diluted to your liking if you have a handy dilution chart. I picked 1:7, stronger than 1:10 and not as potent as 1:4 inbetween both. And.....it uses square numbers when diluting 16oz, 32oz or 1 gal. APC can also be used to clean your tires, door jambs, etc. Actually APC+ is great for carpet and is reformulated for low foaming for extractors .

I was a dish soap, beach towel, wax (in the sun) beach towel to remove.

I feel your pain with products to buy, but my cars thank me for it and they look good.

      Have fun

        Thanks Erik and Nappers.

My interiors aren't really that bad, but I was looking for an excuse to buy some APC+, anyway. Looks like it would be a good investment for cleaning a lot of things, as well as vinyl and it is a lot more cost effective than a dedicated vinyl cleaner like M39.

You are correct about that. Apc can be used for so many things. Just don't limit yourself to the car. Good around the house also. Get the gallon. It will pay for itself in no time.

            Re: M40 Question

M39, APC (detailer) - deep cleaner without protection, M40 - light cleaner, strong protection and smell of new plastics. Combination:
            1st step:M39 (or APC), 2:M40 = strong protection
