Leather Chamois

For Xmas I got some pure leather chamois and some waffle Weave type drying towels.

I was wondering if you guys recommend these at all. I have never used them before. I heard there is maintenance involved w/the leather chamois

I have never cared for a leather chamois... never could really get them to dry my vehicle all that well. Now WW drying towels are awesome, work very well and won't give mine up for anything!!

I am the opposite. I have never tried a Waffle Weave Towel. But I have a leather chamois. When I first got it I had to take the extra tanning oils off. All you take it take warm water and let it soak it up, and then wring it out multiple times. I find that it dries my car very well, better than any other method I have ever tried. Also it does not leave the little bits of water, as some other chamois do.

With Chamios it seems you either like them or don't; nothing in-between.

Before I found MOL I only used leather chamois. They work pretty good at getting the bulk water off but they do not give a good streak free finish.

Its about like using a megs syn chamois, youve got to follow it with a WW towel to get a good finish. I used a megs syn chamois for along time but now I just use two WW towels. Works great.

a long time ago i use to use a leather chamois, but an absorber (liked it better than the leather chamois) replaced it. i no longer use either of those two and use a quality microfiber drying towel or waffle weave for my drying needs.

Yeah I use nothing but huge Microfiber drying towels from Viking and meguiar's. I just got these as gifts. Will probably not use them. They aren't meguiars brand.

They are Quickie from home Depot i think.

I never had much luck with a leather chamois. Since I have been on this forum, I switched to the absorber, to remove the bulk of the water. Then I follow up with a ww micro. This leaves a great streak free dried surface imo.

Aa long time chamois user I can say that they never dry as well as a WW MF towel and they do require periodic maintenance. They tend to dry out and need replenishing with a bit of veg oil to make them soft again. Then they need to be washed several times to remove the extra oils so they won't deposit it on your paint. I haven't used one in a few years now that I found how well the WW MF towels work.
