  • First time Toyota detail

Thought i would share with you all my first attempt with Meguire`s products. I`ve just done our Toyota Avensis.
The car wasn`t in that bad a state but had a few light scratches and marks, so i thought i would give it DC#1, DC#2 followed by the Nxt Tech Wax.

Here are a couple of befor photos:-

I washed the car and then gave it a go over with the DC#1 then followed it up with the DC#2 put on with a rotory buffer.I then gave the car a couple of coats of Nxt Tech Wax applied by hand and buffed off with the rotory.

Not the best of photos but you get the idea.
Next i have my boat to do. I`ve got hold of the Meguiar`s 3 step boat kit to remove some bad oxidation on the hull but i`ll have to wait till i get it lifted out the water, maybe next month. I`ll post some pics when i do it.

      Thanks,
First time detailing and first attempt with a rotory polisher.
Kept it nice and slow and it didn`t come out to bad if i say so myself.
Can`t wait to try it on the boat.

        Hi traindriver,

Your results look good! Be careful with the rotary buffer around high points and edges and clean your foam pads often with a nylon brush, (Like a toothbrush), or a spur if you're using a wool finishing pad.

The Deep Crystal System isn't really recommended for use with a rotary buffer, but if it worked okay for you... more power to you!

Also, you mentioned that you removed the NXT Tech Wax with the rotary buffer? Did you use a bonnet over a pad?

          Thanks for the comments mike,
I know the DC system is really a hand system but i thought it would just be ok applying it with a soft foam pad on the rotory and a bit quicker than doing it by hand and it would rub it into the paint more. I used a terry towel bonnet on a flexible pad to buff of the wax.I dont have the Meguiar`s foam pads but some that came with the polisher, so i`m using a bit of guess work as which is the best to use for each product. Would i be right in saying that the firmer the pad the more it would be suitable for compounding liquids and the softer the pad more for polishing??
