  • Advices on Pads

    Okay,

Last time I took the advices from this forum not letting the polishing and waxing pads to be ziploc after used. That is, all the pads will be air-dried before ziploc.

Now, what is the proper preparation works would be required for re-using them? Should I moisture the pads with some "Quick-detailer" before using them? Should I use a tooth brush to wipe off the dried wax and etc. How could I clean off some of dirt which embedded in the pads?

Thanks for sharing the advices and suggestions.

I don't think there's any way to remove the dried residue of the pads.. I tried brushing them off but no luck.. I also tried to attach them to the PC and turn it on on its highest setting but it just shaked the dried product off.. I don't think there's anything you can do to remove the dried residue/dirt unless you wash them with dawn and water but that's not recommended by Meguiar's.. So, maybe you can just prep them by spraying little QD.. I just go ahead and put on the product on the pad.. hahhaa! Maybe the experts could chime in?

      Hey 32 AMG,
This is what I do. I have a nylon bristle brush that I use for carpet cleaning. I take the pad and put it on a hard surfice, (the kitchen table when the wife is not around) and starting at the center brush towards the outer edge. I turn the pad so that it is going from NW to SE because I am right handed. This seams to work very good to get the old product off. Just don't let the little woman catch you.

yep, that's the way i do it too.
i never wash them with dawm soap, but i remember putting one in a bucket with warm water and then brushed it,but there was not really a big difference than brush them in a dry condition,so i'm settled for that

btw: meguiars offers a special bucket tool to clean your pads in,it's a sort of washing machine, operated by your rotary buffer.i saw one once, but overhere it was to expensive for me.

There's a number of threads on different ways to clean the foam pad, I used the Search Button and came up with this,

Search Results for "Foam Pad Clean"
