  • 5 Step Process

I keep hearing about a 5 step process, wondering why this is.

I have a PC and will be polishing / waxing shortly, just ordered all my products from Mequiar's directly.

I am planning on the following steps for my dark colored cars, please let me know what you think.

    Wash
    Clay
    Wash
#9 put on w\W8006, revmoved w\M9920 both at 4000 opm
#7 put on w\W8006, revmoved w\M9920 both at 4000 opm
NXT put on w\W9006, revmoved w\M9920 both at 4000 opm
#26 put on w\W9006, revmoved w\M9920 both at 4000 opm

I would like a show car shine that is long lasting and durable but will also provide protection for the paint finish.

The harsh Canadian winters really does a number on the cars

The five step process you have most likely been hearing about is actually this http://www.meguiars.com/faq/_index.c...ction=_51#_51. However, that said after reviewing the steps you listed I would say you have a good setup for protection as well as a show car shine. The only thing I might recommend is that you put two thin coats of Nxt on then add the coat of 26. From personal experience there is quite a difference in shine. Also I have been told by the "Know All's" at Meguiars that you have more wax on after two coats of Nxt than one. Good luck against the Canadian Winter.

The 5-steps you are reading about is Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle. This is a car care maintenance program from start to finish, you can read more about it here on the forum by clicking on this link,

      Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle

The link Lt1corvette has the same information but it takes you to the FAQ on Meguiar's.com here,

      Meguiar's *NEW* FAQ

Both offer a ton of information for you to read to increase your understanding of professional car care.

Your system you've listed looks good, but you don't have to wash the car after claying as long as you do a good job of wiping it down with some quick detailer and a microfiber polishing cloth or soft cotton towel after you clay.

You could also skip the #7 Show Car Glaze step if you like because the #9 Swirl Remover is rich in Meguiar's polishing oils like the #7 Show Car Glaze. It's an optional step for dark colored and black cars, so it's up to you.

      Hope this helps...
