Foe what it is worth, I agree with the consensus. Try #80 first. Do a test spot. Get the proper backing plate for the pc. Follow everyone advice and you should have no problems. Good luck.

Just to note, it's usually better to start your own thread with a question than to tag onto another member's thread.

M03 is a pure polish and which style of pad you use with it depends upon the tool you're using and what you're trying to accomplish.

Generally speaking M03 is used with a foam polishing pad but it's not limited to a foam polishing pad. Maybe start a new thread and then ask further questions in that thread.

To remover swirls over an 2002 Grand Cherokee you will need and want more polishing pads. As your first pad gets wet with product soaking into it with repeated fresh applications of more product, the saturated or wet foam will act to soak up and dissipate the power of the Porter Cable unit. This will show up with decreased rotating action of the pad under pressure which means decreased cleaning action, in other words it won't be effective at removing swirls and scratches.

In a perfect world you would have 5-6 foam polishing pads to for the average size car and would switch out to a fresh pad as the current pad's rotating slows down under pressure.

            Mike,

i decided to not to the detail until i had the correct supplies.

What size backing plate should i use for the PC 7424 and what pads?

My steps now are, wash, clay bar, wash, #80 (to start with) then wax with NXT2.0. If i do not achieve good results after #80, then i will redo this step.

Dont need to wash after the clay.

Look for the W67 Velcro Backing Plate and the Soft Buff 2.0 pads.

You can order a case of 6 pads from ADS (and the backing plate), and I would tend to get this assortment:

1 - Cutting Pad - for use under MF bonnets for wax removal
              3 - Polishing Pads - For cleaners and cleaner/polishes like #80, #83, etc
              2 - Finishing Pads - For waxing

If you want to just remove the wax by hand for now, you could still get a cutting pad just in case, or simply add another polishing pad.
