  • Microfibers - Where to buy?

Just curious, where does everyone buy their microfibers? I have a few from my orders at ADS, but I'd like to get a couple more that are heavier. Would prefer the ones that have the silk edging.

On another forum, I've seen The RagShack.com and PakShak mentioned in some posts. PakShak has incredibly high shipping.

    Thanks.

I moslty use ADS for my good ones, and Target for my cheap ones.

Which kind of MF's were you looking for? Waffleweave (drying), or product removal, glass?

Re: Microfibers - Where to buy?

In addition to the Supreme Shine and Ultimate Shine towels I got from ADS (and I really like the Ultimate Shine towels), I am quite pleased with the towels I have purchased from the Rag Shack. (Discount code: xmas20)

I recently came across this site of a MOL member: DF Concours. I do not have any experience with these towels, however.

      Cheers,

It seems that most of the ones I have right now are thin and small, maybe 12x12 with only 1 or 2 exceptions. I was looking for something that has at least one thick side that could be used for wiping off my car after using M135. Also, I think the ones that are different colored are pretty cool looking, but not $15 cool.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not 100% sure what a "waffle weave" is. From what I can recall, the Megs Marine super absorbant drying towel was a waffle weave of some sort, but they are not really soft if I recall correctly.

Here are some that I'm looking at: http://stores.theragshack.com/-strse...k?sfs=3cf9e78a In particular, the Ultra Quality and Gladiator towels.

The regular (yellow) Water Magnet, or the Marine (blue) version are both waffleweaves. That tends to be a style that seems to work well for drying.

I really like the Ultimate Wipes for using M135/UQD...

I would get Meguiar's Supreme Shine to remove products
            For drying Water Magnet.

I have tried a dozen different MF towels and the one that is best for wiping off M135 is Megs Ultimate Wipe . ADS has the best price for these that I've seen.

If you are referring to the Supreme shines with the silk edging, I believe Meguiars stopped applying the edging to them. I actually prefer them without.

Re: Microfibers - Where to buy?

I spent a lot of money on "high-end" designer microfibers or whatever you want to call them. You know, the ones with the special edging, neat names, etc.

I did this before ever touching a Supreme Shine, but one order Rick at ADS threw some in there for me and I was blown away. They aren't the thickest ones out there, or the fanciest, but IMO they are the best for *removing product* like polish or wax. They are simply amazing at that.

I know I sound like a salesman for Meguiar's, but that is my honest opinion. I have probably $450+ worth of microfibers, easily, and I enjoy the SS for product removal the most.

I use the ADS bulk ones for a lot of work too. I like those as well, although the thickness varies quite a bit from one towel to the next.

Aside from the SS and Ultimate Wipe from ADS, I absolutely love all of my Cobra microfibers from AutoGeek.

I've tried the Pakshak towels and I really wasn't all that impressed. Sure, the towel is thicker than most, but it smears a lot more than most. There are better towels at this price level.

Even though the Ultimate Wipe is very thin, it is the best for removing cleaners, glazes, and protectants from the paintwork.

I prefer the Eurow Shag towels for use with quick detailers. These things are THICK and plush, so I feel there is less of a risk. Also, there were near the top of my microfiber test for normal usage.

I also find the shorter nap towels like the SS work best for removal polishes and waxes. The plusher ones work better with instant detailers and spray waxes where wet liquids are involved.

MF is a very high profit item for sellers so that is why you see all the hype == plush (price) at any cost.

I have purchased several brands and I like most all of them.

A lot of people misuse MF and have bad experiences, then criticize them.

Different nap MF are designed for specific uses and when used outside its design parameters it won't work well. I've noticed a few comments on this thread that bare this out.

For example, using a super-plush towel for wax removal is misuse. Using a short-nap MF for QDing can be classified as misuse.

Just keep this in mind when comparing MF towels, peoples experiences, vendors and prices.
