    Re: restoring carbon fiber hood

There are so many threads on how to remove oxidation and restore clarity to carbon fiber components on this forum...

Locate the The Popular Tags Box

On the forum homepage in the right hand column there is a box titled,

Popular Tags - (This is a link to the actual tags in the box)

Look for the words Carbon Fiber and click on it and you should find plenty of suggestions with product recommendations and pictures.

Here's a good thread to read through....

Carbon Fiber Hood - How to work on? (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17579) Alright here is the story. My friend has a carbon fiber hood and it is in pretty bad condition. Seems to me that it has yellowed and there are many scratches and etchings. I had asked him to find out if it was clear coat or gel coat

Another Popular Tag is Oxidized Carbon Fiber

        And check out this thread,

          Re: restoring carbon fiber hood

What works real good on non-clearcoated carbon fiber hoods is M80 Speed Glaze followed by a quality wax.

If it's not to oxidized then you can remove the oxidation using a DA Polisher, if it's really bad then you'll get better results faster with a rotary buffer.

We've had so many people bring horribly oxidized hoods on Tuner cars to Meguiar's garage and the re-occurring theme among most of them is they didn't think they had to do anything to keep the finish up, so outside of being washed the hoods don't see any polishing or waxing and the secret to maintain a non-clearcoated carbon fiber hood is to polish often with something like M80 or M09 or M07 or M03 or M81, (all polishes rich in polishing oils), and wax often too....
