#80 and deep crystal polish question

    #80 and deep crystal polish question

    hello again everyone. i am getting ready to detail my car again this weekend but with a G110 which came yesterday. mad props to ADS for fast shipping.

    now i will be working with the #80. should i still use the deep crystal polish before waxing with the nxt generation wax? i also bought the dvd with mike phillps detailing the car and in the dvd he says after #80 i can just wax. but i have a black car and according to deep crystal polish, its a must for dark car. so will i see better result using the deep crystal polish after using the #80 or am i just wasting my time.

    btw mad props on the dvd mike phillips. very informative.

    I asked this question also and received a variety of answers. The thing is, #80 is already rich in Meguiar's tso's (trade secret oils), so the application of DC2 may or may not add something to your car. The only way to find out is to go ahead and do it. Personally, I'd go ahead and do it, IF I had the time and energy after all the hard machine work. I like applying a pure polish. I too have a black car, and I want her to look as wet as possible.

        Kind of like Al said, the M80 is very rich in polishing oils like our pure polishes offer and in most case you won't see any added benefit from re-polishing with a pure polish after polishing with a cleaner/polish like M80.

        But it won't hurt either.

        More important will be to do a test spot first and then inspect your results and make sure you're getting the results you want and expect. Sometimes, on some paint systems M80 can cause micro-marring or haze the paint. If discovered then you'll want to switch to a different product or do a second step to remove any micro-marring and in that case you would likely want to use a less aggressive cleaner/polish like M82 or M09 or a cleaner/wax like ColorX or M66 or D151

        Lot's of options.

        M205 is now shipping so it too would be a great finishing polish anytime you run into micro-marring or haze.

        After you use up the M80 consider getting some M205 as it's going to be the new benchmark in this industry for top dog of the finishing polishes.

          Put # 7 on after the 80 and you will be very happy with the look of your car.

              No specific link, just do a test spot and then inspect. It's important to work the M80 completely because not working it long enough can cause micro-marring because you won't have worked the product long enough to have completely broken down the diminishing abrasives, thus the micro-marring.

              Make your test spot about 16" square or so... set the polisher to the 5.0 speed setting, apply some M80 to a polishing pad and then work the test section making at least 4 passes in two different directions with firm pressure, firm but you still see the pad/backing plate rotating.

              After these passes lighten up on the pressure and make some "Cover Passes" or "Finishing Passes" in the same manner as above.

              Now wipe off the residue and inspect.

              M80 works on about 90% of the paint systems on the market so it's not that big of a concern.
