  • Who is this detailer (must read!!)

I would advise you to investigate who this guy is. He says he uses Meguiars products but i don't think he is working them into the paint right.

Have a look at these videos

At least he's trying and you have to give him a hand for that, he did refer to M85 as a wax as he removed the oxidation from a single stage paint using a wool pad on a rotary buffer.

He says his sealant will last 4-5 years in the 3rd video listed above and guaranteed it to the car owner for 3 years.

    p.s.

Conceptpaul: Moved your post out of "Hot Topics" and into Detailing 101, Hot Topics is a forum group we either create threads or move threads into because they area a hot topic. It's not really a forum group open for posting.

That is just a little to scary, It sounded like the buffer was running around 2300 RPM. and Mixing Meguiars Diamond Cut With Ardex Stereo Glaze Oh boy I gotta try that one.

Huh... well not sure on the process and how the buffer was used and watch that cord! ...but hey I guess.

        'Aircraft rated' - huh... anyway.

I have never seen a plastic bottle opened quite that way before.

When that happened it was time to turn the video camera off and regroup.

And moving at the speed of light over the paint...

It's good to have your own style but there's something to be said for allowing your pad and chemical have a little time to affect the paint in one area before moving onto new territory. Balance being the key idea.

              Yikes!

I really don't like the idea of sanding a factory paint with 800 grit. Then, he removes some of the sanding marks and goes right back to sanding without wiping off the product!

Sure, he may have completely removed the scratch, but how much clear is left?

I'm sure the Ford GT owner will really appreciate those holograms that will appear in a few days...

actually I've seen many shops work in the same speed and arm speed besides they're using way little product then what I use.

That guy's whole demeanor was disturbing actually. And I'm not even bashing, I'm just telling my reaction. Even if he was this great detailer, he sure brags a lot. There's no way I could watch all 3 of those videos in their entirety.

Re: Who is this detailer (must read!!)

He said he sanded down through the entire clear coat on the 07 GT to remove the water spots and then applied his polymer sealant to protect the paint. Can a sealant, even an "aircraft-rated" one, really take the place of a clear coat?

Maybe it's just me, but the idea of removing a factory applied clear coat from a relatively new car and replacing it with a polymer sealant really sends a shiver down my spine...

I agree. I watched a few more of his videos and thought he was a bit pushy and overzealous. I find it sad because he really gives reputable detailers a bad name.

You can say that again. The guy who he charged 2 Grand on the GT. Filed for a bailout right after filming the was over.
The biggest laugh was at 2:35 into the film "They make the cars Sheathy when meaning the lines in the hood."

1.)He uses alot of product on the car it doesn't matter if it's polish or whatever that's in the mustard bottle.( No wonder why it lasts 5 years)

2.)He's actually holding the buffer wrong even thou everybody has there own style.

                              3.)Dirty pads

But, Lets face it guys we are just jealous because we are not the master.
We should go down to Jax and have an intervention with this man.
